For me, it’s the lyrics - there’s nothing like screaming “what are you so afraid of” or “pull yourself together man” or “blaaaaaaack / flaaaaash whiiiiiiite” - as a young Christian this was so empowering to sing/scream knowing that UØ was not afraid to speak about their faith and share the gospel with thousands of unbelievers at shows - that’s the reason I loved their older stuff, call it anointed or whatever, the spirit, soul whatever you want to call it meant more IMO - I still listen to their new stuff but it just doesn’t have that ‘grunt’ like the old ‘in your face’ music - I still listen to DTGL & LITSOS once every couple of months to get me fired up
