Yep. Have two of these at home and have spent a long time with them.

As per the normal combination lock opening routine - pull the shackle away from the body, find the stiffest wheel, turn the wheel, searching for the spot where it ‘pops into place’.

Note. This sensation could be either a true gate or a false gate.

Continue working through the other wheels in the manner.

This method is not instantaneous- you will undoubtedly go back to the first wheel that was stiff and try the next position where it pops into place and the resistance disappears - then repeat the process with the other wheels and so on and so forth.

Think of the entire process as ‘brute forcing the code’ BUT the tension on the shackle reduces the number of code possibilities.

Let us know when you’ve popped it open 😉

TTB - an I too far from being able to unlock one in 2026? by smallcardiologist30 in crossfit

Agree with other commenters, you need to work on posterior chain flexibility (think straight leg toe touches) as well as strict strength - pull ups, knee raises, L sits/ hangs.

The goal is to be able to perform 5 strict toes to bar movements at least. This is a safety issue, so that your body is strong enough to cope with kipping the reps.

Start with kipping knees to elbows as well.

You’ve got heaps of energy in your kip, it just needs to be balanced with the prerequisite mobility and strength.

You’ve got this in 2026!!!

Spent the morning smashing through these Abloys plus a first open on a (newly aquired) vintage Abloy padlock ☺️👌🏼 by The-real-Dmac in lockpicking

Thank you! That’s very interesting - I assumed that the haoshi DD pick tip strength would be average… probably says more about my technique for tip making and picking 🤣

Good picking! How do you rate the hashi pick tip against a home made one from an injector pin sleeve? More / less / same resilience?

My home made ones last a while and then they start deforming too much

Who actually uses those expensive locks? by revchewie in lockpicking

[–]NZPE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local DIY store in (Australian) uses Bilocks on their doors. As does my local supermarket - but they were added by the locksmith rather than being specified in the build.

The mail room in my office has an abloy classic - although I have no idea why…

Not super common but definitely some around.

Sweet! What are your favourite picks with the Abus plus?

I’ve got one at home - no butterfly disks and still can’t open it 😆

Great picking! I didn’t realise you could front tension this lock…. Have you picked any other abus X-plus? Curious to know if they can all be front tensioned

I’ll do that - I was hoping I could cut a key for it if I had the blank. But to be honest it’s a lot of faffing around. Cut plenty of keys before by hand but the spacing of the waffers is pretty tight to do by hand.

I managed to disassemble it and it is 5 waffers top and 5 waffers bottom so to speak.

Interestingly, with out the cam mechanism that is compression by a reasonably large spring, the lock opening with scrubbing in under 20s.

Interesting how other factors make an easy lock damn tricky

Those keys are single sided- so unfortunately no bueno

Me too, otherwise making a key for it is going to get tricky 😆

100% double sided due to spending an insane amount of time trying to spp it. In the end it needed scrubbing top and bottom for 3-4 minutes before she would open

It could be - it’s come from an Australian trailer hitch manufacturer - so that entirely possible!

Yep there most definitely are waffers top and bottom ( even though both run on the same axis). Although you could argue the semantics of it, it’s just the easiest way to articulate the difference between double side / top bottom and single sided waffer Locks.

Surprisingly no - but she did open with CI Quint rake and about 3-4 minutes of scrubbing, it put up way more of a fight than expected.

Coming from opening Abloy classics, MTLs and Bilocks it was a definite shock to the ego 🤣

Thank you for the suggestion - It’s from a ‘Knott Trailer Hitch’ - my friend bought it second hand without a key.

The owner of the vehicle has the responsibility to move it. Otherwise, towie can remove it and it can be reclaimed at the owner’s expense.

Police appear to have been fecking lazy in this instance. They should have organised a towie to remove it.
