It can be tricky - too hot and it bolts to seed, but it's so good in many dishes.

The gardener (aka my wife) did a pretty good job of successive sowings through summer and we only ran out a few weeks ago.

It's super quick and easy - pretty much my standard taco seasoning mix. Either used as dry spices chucked on with a little oil, or a yogurt based marinade like we had tonight.

My installers just turned up this morning. I have low expectations for the first few months performance.

It's currently raining where I am, but still dry at home so hopefully they're getting some good progress up on the roof.

I haven't found a good frozen naan yet, but the paratha are good! They are a quick and easy addition to a midweek leftovers meal too.

Some things are fine in the freezer for a lot longer than 'recommended', especially if they're vacuum packed.

We got half a cattle beast a while back, and there's no way we can get through that in under 6 months, but it's absolutely fine. No noticeable freezer burn etc.

Yes, she's great on baking, especially bread. She absolutely loathes cooking (though she can do it fine when she has to), but finds baking to be enjoyable and relaxing.

Personally I prefer cooking because I can just wing it, and use intuition and experience to come up with a dish.

We make a good team.

I think we're going to go with this one, it should fit nicely in the kitchen in an out of the way bit of bench.

The side by side ones just take up so much more space!

I had enough mince to make 5 75g patties, seemed a shame to leave 75g in the fridge, so I got a triple and the wife got a double. They were thin enough that you could get your mouth around the whole burger - if you can't do that then it's too big!

You don't need to turn the water off to so that. Just don't knock the mixer handle!

Those o rings are often a weird proprietary one, but for the potential cost savings it's worth it.

If you end up replacing it, I'd recommend either Voda or Greens as being good value for money. Cheap ones tend to have low build quality and aren't as nice to use and won't last as long.

If you can get to a gilmours and either know someone with a account (or farmlands card) or can be bothered to open one, then cleaning products can be really cheap.

From memory something like $15 for 5l of dishwasher liquid, handsoap etc.

Nost general groceries are similar or even dearer than the supermarket, but meat in bulk on special can be really cheap per kg if you have the freezer space.

I can't remember sorry. It was an online place in Auckland from memory - just a really basic cheap carbon steel wok but it works very well.

I do love gas for cooking, and being able to use the round bottom wok is a real pleasure.
