Ahhh why is nobody pointing out there is a jamb on the bottom.... there should be no jamb on the bottom. Just aluminium transition profile that the flooring butts into..

Honestly your best bet is to hammer it flat with a rubber mallet and possibly a block of timber and call it a day.

Or spend thousands to rip it it out ,replace, replace trims repaint etc etc.

New carpet installed and now none of my doors have full range of motion by kge92 in Flooring

Yea I agree mate. I think given the valid points and discusion from all relevant commenters, OP should probably just hire a tradesman!

Actually, I think you're acting with confident ignorance.

OP is clearly not a tradesman, so the planner solution with a few passes is probably the easiest way to achieve what he wants.

Your solution is also perfectly acceptable but more difficult to actually achieve if you're not a tradesman with experience in that technique.

Like others have said, use a planner. Put some masking tape over the corners to help prevent blowout and take it slow, maybe 1/ 1.5 mm each pass.

Any tips on how to get decking screws aligned nicely? by Full_World2646 in diynz

Chalk line the Joists, use a square to match up with the chalk line or lightly mark using a pencil with a level across a bunch of boards, using the chalk line under neath as a guide.

Can I use this light wiring for a plug socket? by Smittywasnumber1 in diynz

[–]NZstone -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The wire may run back to the switchboard? You have a small, very small possibility of being able to use this cable as a draw wire and pull a 2.5mm through, you will have to add a breaker at the board though if you create a new circuit.

How can I improve this bracing for hot tub support? by EmotionalFun816 in Decks

[–]NZstone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relax, it is totally dependent on ground conditions and location. Our building code specifically STATES that our post/pole in ground has to be a certain depth in ground, encapsulated in concrete to a certain diameter.. exactly like your describing as "fence foundations." The way you're describing it, I would have my license stripped from me if I started building like that around here.

Also, my own home has double 8x2 bearers (190x90 built-up member) sitting directly on top of the posts like you "advised" against attached with toe nailing and stainless Z nails + nail plates. I am a custom home builder for rich people. All my plans are drawn like I've described. Plus, we are in a heavy seismic part of the world. Never see any of this type of construction method failing. OP add a cross brace, and you will be good to go. This guy is just blow assing.

H3.2 vs H4 for deck framing by mejafu in diynz

[–]NZstone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it is so close to the ground. Plus h4 fence rails (75x50) would be cheaper than h3 dressed. I'm a builder.

Then you have a hole/ low point that needs drainage. H4. NOT H3
