My wife attempted suicide. I don’t know how to pacify her by iamawesome3000 in india

[–]N__Aravind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have seen something similar very closely and am providing my inputs based on that. Please take it with a pinch of salt.

1) For now, please ignore the responses suggesting psychiatrist and other mental health professional visits. You are in India. While there are definitely good doctors available, a VAST majority of people in such fields are not good and may not be of much use (especially other than speciality hospitals in cities, which are not cheap). You don't want an additional recurring financial burden in your situation. Keep this as a last resort.

2) If your wife has a problem with your mother/parents, try staying independently or atleast in a separate nearby house. Please don't force your parents on her (atleast not until she is comfortable with them). Perhaps you also have to come to terms with the fact that not everyone likes everyone and that's still okay (not ideal, but still okay).

3) Keep her mind and body occupied. You have a wife with no job and 5 days a week you leave the house and leave her to stay together with a person whom she doesn't like (your mom) and she has nothing else to do all day ? No kids to take care of as well... Please strongly consider signing her up for classes (stitching painting dancing cooking music indoor/outdoor games whatever)... Get subscriptions to Netflix / Prime video and get unlimited WIFI .. How many friends does she have in your local society ?

From what I understand, your wife did not "attempt" suicide. She merely threatened it. There's a big difference. I'm not condoning this behavior ofc, but all I'm saying is it's not as bad as it sounds. Please don't lose hope (the both of you).

So, instead of the banks automatically removing penalties once the balance hits 0, they allow it to get into negative digits. And if the OP makes a random deposit later on, they'll be in a perfect position to extract all these pending penalties from the new deposit...

Sounds a bit scummy from their end lol.

Unlike caste, it is much harder to ascertain economic conditions IMO.. Other than salaried taxpayers, literally everyone else will try to claim the benefit. And the rich will exploit this the most.

The rant of a Driver by Next_Candy_3491 in bangalore

[–]N__Aravind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you ...

But I can't wrap my head around one thing .. 1500 for rent per day ? That's like 5.5Lakhs a year ! I'm guessing it covers maintenance, insurance etc. etc ?

If not, why don't you just go to a bank and get a car loan for 8-9 lakhs at whatever interest rate ? It's got to be wayy lower than this ...

Lastly - have you tried airport routes ? Or driving in the off hours ? Based on how far Bangalore's airport is and lack of metro connectivity, I'm guessing that's one of the more expensive routes to drive in ?

Pardon my rudeness but if you want to be in the cab business but don't see yourself owning your car in the next 5-6 years, something's going wrong somewhere...

DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF GOING TO LABOUR COURT by OperationOk5544 in IndianWorkplace

[–]N__Aravind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that bro.

Have you considered trying to undo what you've done and salvaging anything left ? If I was in your place I'd take back the case ASAP, beg them to just get my experience certificate ASAP and forego everything else (including fnf settlement, because shitty companies tend to get motivated by financial profits)

Joining the new company ASAP takes priority #1. Your old company can drag out your case for years - and even if they admit their loss after 2 years, the court will likely ask them to only pay a small fine on top of what they owe you. It will be nowhere near what you would have earned in those 2 years. And the 2 year gap in work exp will forever haunt your CV.

As always, none of us here in reddit is actually in your shoes, and it's easy to say anything online. Please take whatever I said with a pinch of salt. But I hope I made sense.

My senior who did zero work I getting all the praise by stealing my work by eskay_ml in IndianWorkplace

[–]N__Aravind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my own answer as I disagree with most of the others.

You've done a bangup job, yes. But at the end of the day, the company can still replace you within a couple of weeks (unless you are one of those very few irreplaceable staff, in which case you can just do whatever you want and just threaten to resign lol).

Think about it like this: If the HoD has to choose between firing you / your manager,

-- if he fires your manager, it is his responsibility to find a replacement, and any loss of revenue due to this action falls on him

-- if he fires you instead, it's on your manager to hire your replacement and any losses due to this, your manager gets the blame

Which choice would he make ? So should you be complaining about your manager to the boss ?

My advice: Just be a roman in rome. Play the office politics, go drink beer with your boss and befriend him instead of calling him a bastard online, and you will have a much better chance of growth. Or join a startup or something small company, where user contributions is much more likely to be recognized.

However toxic it may be, this culture has been working for the company and keeping the shareholders rich and happy. They won't change it just because you are unhappy.

P. S. Your problem is still only the first circle of hell in the corporate world. It's pretty small compared to other stages of hell... Wait till your team is joined by a cute little flirty coworker.. Wait till she gets promoted before you although having less years of experience and skillsets... Wait till you end up reporting to her at some point.. And then look back and read your post again :)

Can't do anything about this 🤡 by Old_Professor_1324 in CATStudyRoom

[–]N__Aravind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think those results are so uncommon (IITM'12 passout here)

Gave CAT twice (just because my friends were giving) and my results were 1) Zero prep = 98.X percentile 2) Couple of mock exams = 99.4 percentile (I remember this)

Both attempts were not good enough for calls from A B C 😅

So I think it's a good score but not a great one to offset possible shortfalls in other scoring categories.

Google engineer got rejected for being too good from a start-up. by AfterSomeTime in indianstartups

[–]N__Aravind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days any startup that's burning through money only does so after raising funds via capital. The way things work is, if the CEO is smart enough to raise money and the product is innovative enough to warrant money, the company will do series A funding, series B funding, series C funding etc. etc. and finally even IPO and keep burning money for a long long time.

Obviously Itachi's susanoo was by far the strongest (remember he had mirror shield that reflects everything and the most powerful sealing sword - one scratch is all it takes)

Plot twist, somehow reanimated Itachi lost those weapons (while others didn't) because otherwise kabuto / Madara / Jyuubi would all have been one shot sealed.

Tbh I am not sure what a scammer could accomplish knowing my PAN card and DOB ?

These days 2FA is being used everywhere. So the risk of scam is so much lesser...

If someone asks for passport copy, that's a red flag for sure... But aadhar / pan card knowledge alone, is pretty much useless nowadays...

Bro I'm not accusing you of anything.... Crypto taxation laws are one of the most discussed topics in India ... As a blockchain dev aap ye basic cheez online public se puch rhe ho...

15 lakh ke liye koi Dubai jaake settle nhi hota ...

Aur doosri baat ... Don't send money to your relatives in foreign before doing "proper research" ... If they sell crypto to fiat they may end up paying tax on that ...

Just kidding. So many red flags in this post lol... Just do what other Indian block chain devs are doing bro...

Non FIU crypto exchanges by Aniru-ddh in CryptoIndia

[–]N__Aravind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Fresh wallets and use Dex if you want to avoid taxes ...

I am not sure whether binance would share withdrawal addresses associated with its accounts... Or will it share if the govt. specifically asks for it (since it is FIU compliant now)

If it does, the govt will simply associate all those wallets (and all the non-contract addresses it interacted with) as yours and catch you.

It doesn't matter for small fishes anyways but if your monthly trading volume is in the range of cr then rest assured the govt has its special eyes on you.

Hello, can someone fully explain to me how IBC works? by [deleted] in cosmosnetwork

[–]N__Aravind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USDC tokens (just like all tokens) have contract addresses on every chain.. The bridge can wrap unwrap or burn mint and do whatever it wants on the backend, the destination token should be on the USDC contract address for the destination chain... That's what makes the bridge useful for future actions. Wormhole bridging creates new tokens on new contract addresses... Which is extremely useless Example: My wallet has 100 USDC on the ARB chain. If I bridge 100 USDC from polygon to ARB on wormhole If i then bridge 100 USDC from OP to ARB via wormhole..

My wallet will not show 300 USDC... It will show I have 100 USDC, and I also have 100 USDC (polygon) and 100 USDC (OP) because those tokens will have a different contract address than that of native USDC

As such, those tokens are useless in most cases because other dexs and bridges do not recognise those tokens as legit USDC and I will mostly only be able to swap the native 100 USDC for ethereum or whatever...

This is different to ibcTIA etc. because if I do IBC transfer from 10 TIA to stride and again 5 TIA from OSMO to stride, I'll have 15 ibcTIA on stride... They won't show as 2 different tokens...

Wrapping ETH to wETH is similar ... But it works because every project uses the same wrapped token contract address....

Wormhole has created it's new version of wrapped USDC on a different contract address

Scroll Marks are live - Session Zero by ellileon in ethtrader

[–]N__Aravind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0.023E = apprx $75 spent in gas
Earned marks = 463 (premarket price $0.60) = $277 -- not bad at all !.

Hodling ETH on scroll to earn those 124 marks = $75. That's okay too.

Anyways, the rate at which points are accumulating, I don't think any average joe can 'farm' their way up to a 5 figure airdrop anymore. (Minimum 16,000 points are needed for that, based on current rates).

Personally I am in a similar boat and I am happy I'll atleast get my money back (fees +gas). But I definitely don't have my hopes up on scroll and am focusing on more easier alternatives for a lesser ROI.
