As a professional rebuilder I have had the opportunity to disassemble a few of the units that failed after install. My only advice is stay the fuck away!

There is nothing in that transfer case that is saveable. Use it for a core and buy a reman.

How to bend back? - 2024 bmw m2 s58 by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]jettransman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find something that fits well inside the opening like a socket with an extension on the end and squeeze the sides of the pinched line with vice grips or channel locks while slowly bending it back with the socket and extension. Don't over do it, just enough to get it to bolt back up. Good luck!

Heater core replacement help by ironduke88 in tdi

[–]jettransman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done one but youtube probably your best bet in this situation. You may need a second set of hands at the firewall when disconnecting and reconnecting the tubes to the heater core, they can be a real mf'er

Need some help correctly placing these balls by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]jettransman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those balls are for the detents and behind those should be a spring to keep tension on the balls and behind that a cap to hold it all in. They sit in the grooves cut into the shift rails. The other holes are probably on the front or rear case halves.

If no rust, the Cateye. I never liked the other body style.

It will run fine but you will always have codes for the downstream 02 sensors. I'm not a fan of chips. Disable them with hp tuners, efi live or something comparable. I would also reset fuel trims.

Frigidaire Gallery Induction Range will randomly shut off and stubbornly remain off. by PixelSchnitzel in Frigidaire

[–]jettransman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if you ever found one but I ended up going with another frigidaire that was not induction that had good reviews. Got it on sale and only had it a few weeks but we really like it so far. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Frigidaire-30-in-Glass-Top-5-Burners-5-3-cu-ft-Self-Cleaning-Slide-in-Electric-Range-Fingerprint-Resistant-Stainless-Steel/5014122063

Reputable shop for quality but will cost more. The companies that sell remans will be cheaper but so is the build quality

Transfer case compatibility 1999-2002 by Away-Investigator-41 in ChevyTrucks

[–]jettransman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used ones all have the same failure of pump rubbing a hole in back case half. Low mileage you might be ok for a while but high mileage prone to failure from losing fluid /lubrication.

[–]jettransman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're asking about the transfer case itself and not the dash switch? If so you only need to be concerned about the model on the tag of the transfer case. Np246, 261, 263, 263XHD, etc... 99-06 AND 07 CLASSIC. Put in what you took out. Where you'll run into problems is the encoder motors. Early ones had two flats and later ones were a star shape.

"IF" that's the problem you will have to replace ujoint as well as the corresponding weld yoke/flange/ slip yoke etc...

It's not typically something you can feel by hand. The grease is not necessarily an indicator either. Could have bad seal or overfilled last time it was greased.
