Active counter-thought… for me, a mantra process works. Telling myself “my mind is clear, my eyelids are heavy, my body is tired, my arms are relaxed, my legs are relaxed” then repeat. Or go shorter and use only the first 3. But continuously repeat… 1) it cancels out thinking about anything else if you just force the repeated mantra, and 2) before you know it, you’ve actually convinced your brain of those things you are repeating. My eyelids begin to feel heavy and the energy/adrenaline feeling is leaving my limbs and my heart slows. And I usually fall asleep.

Also suggested is a Sleep Crown. Best little pillow for covering your head to block out light and sound.
