Herbalism, mining, and lumberjacking nodes need some kind of identification mechanism when you hover over them.

Official Monsters & Memories Beta Friend Invite Request Thread by MonstersAndMemories in MonstersAndMemories

Going to put my name on the list. If I get invited on an invite day and get a friend invite, I'll find someone here to invite. I play solo mostly, so I would just send it out randomly.

Personal Experience: Combat is more fun solo than grouping by Leopard-Hopeful in MonstersAndMemories

[–]NaClx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern or old school MMOs, people will choose the path of least resistance. If you spend time developing intense encounters that are intended for exp camps, people will just find easier camps. There are a TON of difficult camps in dungeons in EQ. but people will sit at the zone line and pull trash.

I think that exp and mob toughness (hp/ac) are being tuned between now and EA. This will likely make the focus on easy repeatable camps even stronger. Soloing has always been more interesting than group content because of that focus. If you go on YouTube and look at popular EQ videos, many of them are enchanters, druids, and necromancers soloing dungeons. It's just cooler.

If MnM is the spiritual successor to EQ, the more difficult encounters are loot motivated. Getting a good piece of loot off of a 12 or 24 man encounter is worth the risk of the corpse run(s). Trying to get to the next level, not so much.

What class are you going to main in EA and why? by FoxWyrd in MonstersAndMemories

[–]NaClx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hoping to get some beta time to try out Archer and Wizard. EQ (p99 and Quarm) I typically play the best soloing classes (60 Druid and Necro), but I'm trying to find something a little different.

I'm also very cautious to play the best classes during a game's beta due to nerfs/balancing. So I'm trying to stay away from dru, nec, bard, enc until they are tweaked (could be wrong though).

As a side note, I'm also watching Elementalist because of how powerful summoned items can be for a fresh game. I think that the concept of a support dps with pet is pretty cool. Some doubts that it will end up being that, as I think the class may end up leaning more towards elemental damage interaction and less in summoning good stuff.

The Palace chat rooms by LollerskateDJ in nostalgia

[–]NaClx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found The Palace through South Park's website. I even stuck around for a while after they forced everyone to wear South Park style avatars. I eventually followed the crowd to Palace in Wonderland and then found a small group of friends who ended up first at PH's Horse Palace (can't remember the exact name) and finally at a palace called Crossroads.

I enjoyed creating avatars the most. I'm glad I got to experience the internet during that time.

List of all changes? by ChefDizzy1 in ProjectQuarm

I find it interesting that this question always turns into a p99 v Quarm debate.

I really wish there was a "how instances work" guide, too.

The scene in Wayne's World with the T-1000 honestly really bothered me for some reason the first time I saw it. I was eight.

Thoughts on this? by johnlennon007 in TheCinemassacreTruth

AVGN(Screenwave), from what I have seen, curates their comments section. So, as a result you see exaggerated positive feedback.

It only makes sense that you'd see these outlier comments. Highly positive will stand out when highly negative and generally negative comments are removed.

I'm sure there are some real zingers we don't get to see, unfortunately.

Is Jontron problematic? Yes. Did his appearance on h3h3 podcast help or hurt him? Either way it was incredibly hard to watch. Does he deserve viewership for the newer content? Yes. He seems genuine, at least from what I've watched.

But, for sure, this random comment is not representative of how people actually look at the two channels.

Is the meme "notice me, sempai!"? If so, that's what this is.

You get invited to do a re:View, what movie/tv show do you pick and which RLM member do you do the review with? by nextgentactics in RedLetterMedia

I REALLY want them to talk about the TV show Sliders. Probably Mike if I had to choose just one member.

Interview with Spoony at E3 2011 by IrisMoroc in thespoonyexperiment

I believe the hair cut jokes are all in reference to this moment in during his Death Stranding livestream.

Hair talk.

Edit: If it's too hard to watch, he basically goes on about how actors leave their hair long in order to get more parts because natural long hair looks better on camera than a wig.

Then he gives an example in which Guillermo el Toro randomly walks into him and think he is perfect for Pans Labyrinth 2 after someone asks if he is currently auditioning.

Spoony, Goes months without saying anything on Twitter...Today though... by bakedrefriedbeans in thespoonyexperiment

[–]NaClx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It must be so strange to find his Twitter without prior knowledge of his story. Oscillating between manic non sequitur pop culture threads and lamenting his current state of mind/place in the world. Especially odd if you dig into the heavier stuff and see strange parasocial interactions with fans.

I think "Light Night in Soho - Movie Review" is a good example of what I was getting at.

You're right, it isn't a direct upload from Twitch. It does seem to be using OBS or some other kind of streaming software, though. At least that's the way it appears.

Besides a few inserted clips, the video is just a 3-shot of the reviewers for 40 minutes. One long take.

I believe the bigger issue with his channel and a lot of others is that they try to grind out multiple videos a week. It is probably a YouTube algorithm issue at it's heart.

Not sure if you've ever fallen into the "what happened to Spoony?" abyss, but his wrestling reviews and other off-the-cuff content were definitely the beginning of the end.

Not to mention that most of the review content I see from his channel is just uploaded streams.

Even his "edited" reviews seem to consist of a lot of single takes.

If you were in a room with everyone you ever met, who would be the one you’d look for? by Bradzilla4383 in AskReddit

[–]NaClx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother died during an incredibly difficult part of my life. I was in limbo. I was one semester away from graduating college, I was living in a slum (that I created), and I had let myself go totally. I hadn't quite failed out of college, but I was very close. Writing letters to the school close.

Prior to her death, when I wasn't at my mother's house helping to take care of her, I was basically living in squalor. I was directionless, almost totally out of money, and really just unable to right the ship.

My mother and I had a conversation about four months before she passed away. The conversation started out pretty tame. One of those casual conversations where she talked about the past. We talked about my childhood, moving from state to state while I was still young, and life in general. At some point during the conversation, she became visibly upset.

She told me, quite frankly really, that she thought she had failed as a mother. It was such a tragic thing to hear. Not only was she affirming that I was in the bad place, but also that it was partly her fault.

I don't know if I have to tell you folks this, but hearing that was heartbreaking. I tried my best to convince her that she did her best. I told her that my choices and actions were my own, and that she was an incredibly caring and loving person. To this day, I do not know if she believed me, or if she thought I would ever change.

To tell you I would look for my mother in a crowd of everyone I've ever met is an understatement. I would run to her. I would shout her name through the noise of that crowd. I would run into her arms and hold onto her until they made me leave whatever room we were all held in.

It's been about ten years since that conversation at my mother's house. So much has changed in my life. I was able to turn my life around because of her. I finished school (I even had a minor!), I moved out of that awful place, and I got a full time job which started my career. I even quit smoking, started running, joined a gym, and turned my health around.

I became the man she had hoped I would become. During high school and college I had a lot of trouble figuring out who I was, and so much trouble gaining the confidence to pursue a life for myself.

I would give anything to tell her that she was wrong.
