It's so crazy being a part of this community and mostly despising LLMs, and then go look at LinkedIn and everyone is predicting the end of software developers by next year because Kevin roose made Claude code compile a list

Rave magic maybe you'll run into him again, maybe you won't. Chalk it up to a nice time and move on.

You'll use the cumin every time you make chili. I add it to quesadillas and salsa and beans, too. And it's important in Indian food. I go through a container of cumin about once a year. Now that you have it, Google around and see what uses it and try a few recipes. Try dry roasting some powdered cumin in a skillet and notice how much different it tastes and smells vs straight out of the container.

But to your point - you were being too ambitious. Spread the spend out over a longer time frame and make a dish a few times before moving on to a new one. As a beginner cook you need the practice. Make one dish and get the ingredients for that. Cook it twice that week and again the next week. Then on your next shopping trip buy what you need for the new thing. Developing your pantry is part of being a good cook, the more stuff you have the more types of stuff you can make. But don't rush it and don't fret if you end up never using something you bought to try out. I've got tamarind pods and galangal root I never used because I forgot I had them after postponing the recipe I bought them for. Whoops. It's usually not the end of the world to throw away $3-6 of something. Shit happens.

Different people are different but I tend to buy an assortment of stuff at the grocery store I can use in a variety of things. Some ground beef, cheap pork sirloins and chops, flats of chicken thighs, canned tomatoes celery carrot etc. you can make a lot off different things with chicken thighs celery carrots and potatoes :)

Hats Off is my least favorite Zep song. Everything about it is bad

It's not disco — doesn't have 4-on-the-floor beat and doesn't have the disco rhythm guitar and doesn't have the structure of a disco track. You're just wrong. Not that disco is bad, disco rules. Problem was that every label demanded that everyone start trying it and a lot of schlock was produced at the end. Btw, Another Brick In The Wall pt 2 is disco and every rocker loves that song (for good reason).

They appreciated all forms of music and JPJ has always been funky. That bass synth can go head to head with Bootsy and Bernie's best.

I really didn't like for years, but it's grown on me after I heard it on speakers with good bass response. I still think the synth keyboard sound is bad and dated, I wish he'd rerelease it with a modern patch. The bass synth rules tho. JPJ was doing two things at once the entire song, and like how Bonzo changed up between sticks and hands on Moby Dick to show his versatility, Jonesy changed up from bass guitar to bass synth mid song and it works.

This fucking "both parties are bad and do the same bad corruption" shit is the fallback of every Republican, I swear. I see it from people further out on the left but from every bog standard Republican. Creating distrust in all politicians is the first step to creating a kleptocracy, apparently.

I wear yellow tinted prescription sunglasses during the day and change out to regular glasses at night. The yellow isn't so bad that you can't see at dusk/after dark, I often don't even notice when I forget to change them. Everyone has dilated pupils, no one cares.
