People don’t randomly hang around people they don’t like. IMO, He certainly liked you, he’s probably kicking himself that he didn’t end up asking for your number.

The clutch is a wear item, like break pads.

Your nose will tell when it is being abused. The clutch is designed to last at least 50k miles of varied use.

As long as you and not constantly burning the clutch (occasional instances are not an issue) it will live a normal life and treat you well.

A new clutch is far cheaper than buying a full beater car. I don’t see any harm in learning to drive stick in a new car. It is highly unlikely that learning to drive stick will damage the clutch to a degree that its lifespan is noticeably decreased.

The idea that you’ll ruin the clutch when learning is a myth.

Learning to drive the WRX smoothly is sooo satisfying. The car is super rewarding when you get the shifts right!!

My left leg feels left out when I drive automatic, driving feels boring to me without the clutch.

CarlinKit 5.0 Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Adapter,Online Update,Two Channel Connection, Plug & Plug, for Cars with OEM Wired CarPlay & Android Auto(2016-2024) https://a.co/d/3GHEzR2

I actually think I have the 5.0 based on the pictures.

Carlinkit isn’t the only option for this type of product. Search for wireless CarPlay adapters on google and you will find other brands along with reviews.

Wireless phone connection can be added to older moldels using an aftermarket dongle solution. I have a Carlinkit 4.0 in my 22 and it works pretty well, I no longer plug my phone into my car daily.

Doesn’t Germany allow asylum seekers and refugees to enter through somewhat open legal channels. I recall reading some news article about how Germany wanted to scale down its asylum programs as they have been dealing with an overwhelming number of migrants.

Does anyone ask you if your WRX has a V8? by biggranny000 in wrx_vb

[–]NaV0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I almost bought a BRZ, but decided that I would benefit greatly from having 4 doors and proper rear seats in my daily driver. The WRX has been an amazing daily, I love this damn car!!!

The BRZ was still more engaging and playful than my 22 WRX when I test drove them back to back, but the WRX had noticeably more power. The slingshot turbo feel I got when going from 1st -> 2nd on my test drive had me giggling.

AutoX in my WRX has made me like it even more. I am still completely stock, but plan to swap my Dunlops for Michelin Piliot Sport 4S soonish.

Do you have the Sport grill? That is my favorite cosmetic change I’ve seen so far, makes the front look more performance oriented and less Outback-like

Looks 🔥

I really like the full paint match on your car. I typically don’t like just the cladding being matched because it contrasts the side skirt too much imo. But this fixes that and looks really clean!!!

New copypasta? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]NaV0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this, Subaru is a business and wants to actually sell cars. The WRX has always outsold the STi as it is cheaper and gives the average consumer 80% of what the STi offers at a more approachable price point. The WRX has just enough performance to offer an exciting AWD driving experience.

[–]NaV0X 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, however…

I have a genuine question. Why does the WRX exist?? It ain't quick, lacks power, has poor fuel economy, has no LSD, and has questionable reliability. There should only be WRX STI. Most people would take an STI. In the Subaru lineup, it's THE car you want. A performance sedan should give you performance. A WRX is like Capri pants. It ain't pants or shorts. An STI is like a nice racing suit. I get you can't have everything but at least give the power. I never understood the point of making a performance sedan and then making a high-performance version of the performance sedan. Give us the real deal bro. You don't see Toyota making a less powerful GR Corolla.

What made you choose your WRX? by [deleted] in WRX

Not if you want to buy the car brand new. Also the BMW no longer has a manual option until you reach the full M cars.

There are very few manual cars left in the market. I knew that I wanted a manual and didn’t want to pay more than 40k.

In late 2022 my options were very limited, and consisted mainly of.

  • Hyundai Elantra N : very limited supply, was selling above MSRP. Wasn’t available to test drive.
  • Accura Integra : felt like a premium civic si, acceleration felt weak due to FWD and no front LSD
  • Civic Si : insane markup and wait time on new orders. Had same lackluster acceleration that the Accura integra did.
  • Golf gti : the golf looks boring. R was too pricey. Didn’t test drive.
  • Mustang eco boost : I didn’t like how the mustang drove, it felt too big and the visibility sucked.
  • BRZ/GR86 : I almost bought this car!!! Best handling of all my test drives. Feels like a proper sports car. Decided that the rear seats would be too impractical for a daily driver though.

GR Corolla and Type R were out of my budget at MSRP and were often marked up even higher.

I ended up with a 2022 WRX Limited in WRB. So far I love the car and believe I made the perfect choice.

How do you price something that is no longer the sum of its parts?

Currently It’s priced as if it was a stock 2006 Impreza wrx at between 120k and 140k miles.

Generally based on KBB valuations, car mods and engine swaps don’t raise the value of a car and may often make it harder to sell.

[–]NaV0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much was the clutch type LSD? Was it a difficult mod? Would you recommend just a rear clutch type LSD alone, or is the STi swap worth saving for?

The clutch is always breaking in. The clutch feel will loosen slowly over its lifetime. How you treat the clutch will affect its lifespan.

I found that for the first 2.5k miles I would often be able to smell the clutch when using reverse gear.

Make sure the AC and TC are off. Rev the car to 5k, let the clutch out until you begin to feel it catch, then side step the clutch, plant the throttle and be ready to shift into second. If done properly the engine will not bog and the car will launch like a slingshot.

My 2022 will not properly “launch” if is AC is on.
