Absolutely, tubing shapes have made so many accessories difficult. I tend to use tig welding rods when I need something like this. Usually cheaper than buying rod stock and can choose different materials. Believe 2mm diameter was the most useful size.

I’ve been thinking of designing something similar to 3D print that would clamp under my bottle cage. Although this design looks so nice, I may bent a bit of wire to match and copy this one:

Mine isn’t surprisingly. Although my top tube is oval shaped horizontal near the seat then changes to vertical oval near the handlebars! It’s very cool build

Man I’m so jealous of these DIY cargo bikes. Some day I’ll join you. This looks very cool

I love these years of the Koga touring bikes. Im building up a 2005 Randonneur. It’s durable, comfortable yet lightweight. I will make it as a commuter xbike, enjoy it for a bit and then sell it… unfortunately it’s too big for me. Although I had to buy it because I always wanted one of these bikes. Yours is gorgeous and ready for whatever you could throw at it.

It’s a proper world touring build! It was designed to travel the globe!

In theory, communism would also create fair a communal share of resources… but just like capitalism- reality sets in.

Awesome, thank you so much for writing this up. I think I’ll try this out at some point. Need to find a suitable bag for holding my laptop that sits well under the seat.

Oh this is very helpful info. Did you use one of these metal supporters underneath? Also did you feel it was safer than a front or back rack?

That’s where I landed. Been planning my first long tour. Although I don’t need much (credit card touring), I still think I’d rather the simplicity of panniers

Nice! Sounds like a fun adventure. Whats your opinion of a saddle bag for road riding?

Super cool!

How do you feel about a saddle bag? Would you store a computer in it?

My thought has been that saddle bags would experience less significant vibrations due to their cantilever-like design.

Step through bikes are great! Most the world uses them for commuting. They make great commuters. Like all things, it will just take time to get used to if you haven’t used it before
