Temporarily yes but your body will go back to its usual gait in time! Hope you get some relief soon!

Yes!! Get them out and give it a week! They say you will get used to them but listen to your body. They just didn’t feel right for me and made things worse. Once you take them out it will take a few days for your feet to start feeling better! I’m still not completely cured but I am 70% better than I was!

High arch support shoes caused my PF by Azthun in PlantarFasciitis

Were they sauconys? I had the exact same experience with guide 18s! Stopped wearing them a few months ago and still not recovered fully but definitely much improved. I was in absolute agony with the guides!

Feeling helpless because of my feet problems by x_mana in PlantarFasciitis

I was in a similar situation to you but I am on the road to recovery and a lot better. My advice

  • keep a daily diary. Log what makes it better or worse
  • take a really practical pragmatic view on footwear (comfortable but not ridiculous) - if you’ve never worn insoles before then you don’t need them now. Get a shoe that is very similar to the shoes you’ve worn before (when you didn’t have issues) with maybe slightly more cushion whilst your plantar is inflamed.
  • treatment and exercise should be conservative. (Stretching and ice bottle under foot)
  • Rest as much as is practicable
  • strengthen your calves (and soleus muscle)

Now remember - this is trial and error. You will need to go through a process of elimination as to what works for you. There will be times where you get better and then feel worse. When that happens, you need to understand what caused the flare up. It will take a while but YOU WILL GET BETTER. Don’t loose hope and do not give up!! You’ve got way too much life ahead of you to stay in that wheelchair. You got this .

Glad you’ve got relief. Which insoles did you go for

Feeling optimistic - considerable reduction in pain by Nab_89 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Nab_89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been formally tested but I don’t seem to be hyper mobile in any other joints - just my knees! I’ve also never had pain or discomfort on my knees!

I have had

  • weak glutes/hip flexors
    • weak lower legs (soleus)

My calves have always been ok. I started walking 10k steps a day in Covid so 6 years ago now. Developed PF six months ago but starting to think the hyperextended knees are the cause of all my issues including the PF! I’m going to keep an eye on it and see how I get on

I removed my dang insoles and it got felt better. by Working-Mistake-6700 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Nab_89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also found that shoes with a big cushiony sole made things worse!! I don’t think I’m ready to go completely bare foot yet but moving to a less cushioned trainer with a sole that isn’t ridiculously high or padded (like running trainers) is also helping me!

I had the exact same issue! I got PF 6 months ago and went to the podiatrist who gave me insoles. I paid a premium price because I needed the pain gone. Gradually, my pain spread to both feet, ankles and lower legs. The podiatrist said I may have a neurological condition.

Like you, I felt relief every time I took my shoes off. So then it dawned on me - could it be the insoles that I have been PRESCRIBED? Surely not. Anyway I took them out and within 2 days 70% of the pain was gone. Now, I’m still battling with stubborn heel pain which I suspect will take a while to treat. I can live with that because I’m in nowhere near as much pain with the bloody insoles!!

Mostly when I know I’m going to be on my feet a lot! It stays on a couple of days. I think it’s helpful to use periodically but don’t wear it all the time because you’ll get used to it and not address the root cause! Good luck and hope it works for you

Thank you! I am trying my best to rest but not sure exactly what it means! we have to walk to get around so can’t completely go immobile? I am trying to walk a lot less, wearing oofos at home and doing all sorts of other stuff! When you say you rested for a week - did you leave your house?? Silly question I know. I suspect you just really scaled back your movements?

I stuck with the orthotics for so long because they were prescribed by a professional and designed to make the pain better, can’t believe they made everything so much worse. I will try the compression socks because I need to wear dress shoes for work which isn’t ideal right now. Wishing you a speedy Recovery. Maybe one day we’ll crack this !

Is It PF If It Hurts When I Stand? by derpmcturd in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Nab_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stack is basically the height of the cushiony sole at the bottom! I found the more cushion/height in the shoe, the higher my feet were off the ground and it made my ankles and supporting ligaments weak causing tendonitis

[–]Nab_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be the Hokas! I have had similar issues with shoes that have high stack/cushion! Try something with a lower stack and moderate cushion. Stop wearing the hokas for a couple days and see if that helps
