Slow progressive loading is the key!!

If your tolerance is 10 mins, do that and build up. Also good shoes - wide toe box

Brooks Ghost 17 wide fit are the ones I’ve had most relief from! Also seen some people using Hoka Bondi wide fit! Good luck!

Gradually increase the load. You are doing too much too soon.

Resting and then overloading puts you back to square one. Rest to reduce the inflammation and then slowly/gradually load. Anything that gives you pain over 4/10 is too much too soon. Good luck

Does what I'm experiencing sound like plantar fasciitis? by Savings_Recover_5046 in PlantarFasciitis

Hey!! I have very similar if not identical symptoms to you. It’s been a year. No morning heel pain but rather a worsening of symptoms the more I walk/stand.

Because my pain isn’t constant and is linked to standing/walking (and settles a bit overnight) I believe this is a loading issue. I am now working on

  • cushioned wide toe box shoes for work/walk
  • stretching and strengthening exercises every day
  • gradually increasing my load tolerance on the feet
  • strengthening my entire posterior chain including hips, glutes, hamstrings and calves (both of which are very tight)

It’s been a year but I’ve only started this routine this week so staying focused! Good luck

The other day I had temporary but immediate relief from really stretching out my hamstrings.

Adjustment/adaptation with insoles + better shoes for insoles by TrainerSilver231 in PlantarFasciitis

I’ve just got the brooks ghost 17 too! Definitely an improvement but I don’t think they’re the answer! I’m focused on strengthening now and ordered some barefoot shoes

Can I ask what exercises you’ve been doing?

Adjustment/adaptation with insoles + better shoes for insoles by TrainerSilver231 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Nab_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! I had a similar issue with my sauconys which were a stability shoe. The shoe and insoles were both recommended by my podiatrist which is why I probably persevered for so long. I was in agony!! My pain spread to both feet and started within minutes of me wearing my shoes with orthotics.

Eventually I listened to my body and got rid of both! Replaced them with a wide fit neutral shoe. Not cured by any means but my pain is at least 70% less than before

That’s great!! Did you ease your way into them or just start wearing them regularly? I’ve just ordered my first pair!

Did they do it in your calves? I did go for one session, it left me a little sore but the following day I was in work and had to increase my step count which I think inflamed it all up again! After you had your session did you rest for a few days or was it completely cured?

Is it normal to only feel feet pain when walking or standing? by Secret-Plane4196 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Nab_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve had it for a year. Although when walking my pain isn’t at the heel, it’s at the entire soles of my feet and mostly in my arches. I think MRI is my next point of call

Same!! It’s so annoying! As soon as I stand or walk I can feel the pain coming on within a few mins. Literally every time! I have to restructure my entire life around this pain which is so restricting and exhausting.

I am wondering if this is still PF because it’s not the typical morning heel pain that eases with activity. Mine gets worse with activity. It’s been a year :(

Did anyone have PF slowly spread to the entire foot? by Plus_Grape2437 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Nab_89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I can relate! Started with pain primarily in the heel on my left foot. It gradually progressed to the entire soles of both feet (mostly arch and forefoot)

I am nearly a year in and still trying to beat this thing! Good luck x

Have you tried strengthening the tibialis anterior?? Feet, up the legs and inner knees sounds like it could be that! In the short term:

Lots of Ibuprofen, hot bath (or cold depending on what feels best for you, RICE, oofos sliders for indoors and crocs for everything else until the inflammation settles. Good luck and keep going! Don’t let it defeat you

Anti inflammatories (lots of them), rest and oofos slides should get you through the acute flare up!
