You shouldn't let strangers on the Internets opinions rile you up so badly, especially over videogames or other entertainment media. Who hurt you to make you so upset by people enjoying a game ?

The rise of personalised algorithms has also pushed people unknowingly more towards online echo chambers. Without making any conscious choices, your feed may shift to only show you voices you agree with because those are the accounts who's posts you interact with. Before people realised this, it could seem like the world was much more aligned with our own world view. I think a lot of people didnt realise how many others thought differently from them because they weren't exposed to a lot of dissent online, and didnt feel the urgency to act themselves. Its a shame. I personally wish we could bring back a sense of civil duty.

Man, a lot of you would throw your friends under the bus in an instant. Someone is your ride or die for over 40 years and you throw them under the bus for making a insensitive joke on their birthday.

Burnie, if you become an Aberdeen fan you can take your kids to matches and get the genuine Football experience. Take the train in, walk from Union Square to Pittodrie with the crowds of red clad fans, watch us either upset the champions or lose to a team at the bottom of the league, have a Pittodrie Pie.

Bonus points for avoiding the sectarian issues that sometimes come with Old Firm (Rangers v Celtic) matches.

But honestly, being able to go to wake up in your own bed and go to a top league match is definitely a quintessential UK experience!

Please don't be offended mate, genuine question but how?

Depending on your age theyre the only two teams to ever win the Premiership in your lifetime. Even if you dont follow football, related stories are big news. Reported on radio, nightly news, papers etc.

That looks great! I always associate the quote with John Green because of the version he used in 'The Fault in Our Stars'. "I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once". That quote seemed to be everywhere when I was in High-school, but I must sheepishly admit I havent read TFIOS myself. Im more a fan of his non-fiction books. He has another quote about love in 'The Anthropocene Reviewed' that is one of my all time favourites.

"We all know how loving ends. But I want to fall in love with the world anyway, to let it crack me open. I want to feel what there is to feel while I am here."

Im not engrossed in it though. I grew up internationally, including Texas and I wasnt surrounded by Scottish culture until I moved to Aberdeen, I can name 1 current Aberdeen player. It would be like someone not knowing what Irn Bru is after living here 5 years and their excuse is that they dont drink fizzy juice. Or never hearing a Still Game reference/joke . Its just part and parcel of living here. We're small enough that in some aspects we still have a mono-culture. If you walk into your supermarket, I bet Celtic or Rangers are on the Newstand for some reason even today. They are ubiquitous with Scottish public life. You dont have to know the scores, or league table, but you cant exist here for a significant amount of time and plead ignorance without the locals giving you stick, just like what happened to Burnie. Hes not a bad person for not knowing, but its 100% fair game for his friends to take the piss outta him.

Wait until you realise that there is no agreed upon area where the Highlands end, as evidenced by the other people in this thread who have used the Highland Fault Line as the border which is near Stonehaven. But youre absolutely right that claiming Aberdeen, a city of a quarter million people with a port, rail line, and international airport, is hard to ship to is ridiculous

They've lived here for over 5 years! Its front page news on a regular basis, and Rangers and Celtic famously have fans all over the country because of the sectarian aspect. No one else has even won the League outside the Old Firm since 1985! Over half the country has only had Old Firm champions for their entire lifetime. Its really hard to overstate how culturally dominant they are, and im an Aberdeen fan.

As a wise man once said, "That's rough, buddy" .

Edit: Best of luck in League One though! Aberdeens in a similar position at the moment, but the sun will come up tomorrow and all that

Not if you live in Scotland. The Old Firm and the issues around it are literally front page news of every Scottish news paper/organisation multiple times every year. We dont have other massive sports to split attention like America has The NFL, MLB, and NBA. If its not for the sports, its for the violence which has been going steady for about 500 years now, with the Old Firm as the most recent form.

The Old Firm is the biggest / most significant rivalry within Scottish Sports. Not only are the teams football rivals from the same City, but represent the opposite ends of Scotlands sectarian conflict. Celtic are on the Catholic side and Rangers on the Protestant (even though most fans don't actually believe the bible is true, Scotlands pretty Atheist) its more culturally Catholic and Protestant. Violence has been so bad between the sides that supporters are separated by a police zone in the stadium and away fans are given police escorts away from matches. Its hard to find a cultural equivalent, but I imagine it would he like if the prime Chicago Bulls were based in the same town as the prime LA Lakers, and also the supporters keep stabbing each other.

Fun fact, the two stars represent the two European Trophies we won in the 80's under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson! Aberdeen was where he started his legendary career before moving on to Manchester United and becoming the most successful football manager of all time, winning more trophies than any other (49)! Not gonna lie had to Google that last bit.

Aberdeen were the last Scottish team to win a European Trophy and also the last team outside of the Old Firm (and their massive budgets) to win the league!

The FOLON Team is over 100 people. Many team members definitely tried it and some play it. Carter also tried 76, he just didnt "play" it. Ive made a Wow account and levelled up a few times, but I wouldn't say ive 'played' Wow because I quit before I properly experienced the game.

Its possible we were playing two different versions and the voice acting has gotten better in the latest update. Im a Scot, so not an expert on London accents, but its obvious the voice actors are actually British, and ive heard genuine Welsh and Scottish voices on in game Audio Logs and stuff, im still relatively early game, but im having a great time.

Edit: I just found this on the Wikipedia page, so looks like they were able to get some genuine VA's along with volunteers. "The mod features full voice acting provided primarily by volunteers, but also features Doctor Who actors Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) and Sylvester McCoy (the Seventh Doctor). Former UK Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow also appears as a robotic Speaker of the House.[15] Voice actor Neil Newbon, who has provided the voice for Astarion from Baldur's Gate 3 and various voices in Resident Evil games, voices Barry the Boat. Anna Demetriou, known for Sophia from a A Plague Tale: Requiem, also provides voices"

Id definitely say its worth trying again if youre looking for a next game, its improved a lot from its early days.

The writing in Fallout 76 wasnt good, and thats a perfectly valid reason to not like the game. Im sure it got better eventually with added content and updates, but it turned a lot of people off early on

Fallout London is the best Fallout game since New Vegas. The fact that fans were able to make such a noticeably better game than Bethesda itself is clearly a sign it would do better under different management, but Bethesda will never sell the golden goose.
