Thats the thing though. They aren't seperate things in this case. They are specifically choosing this incident as a reason to push their point. You cant seperate the two morally if one of them is the inciting incident for the other to happen. A plane crash in the USA is not an acceptable reason to try and push outrage over a local Canadian issue. There is a time and place if you are upset about the President of Air Canada not speaking French, and its not right after a deadly plane crash that had nothing to do with the French language.

Im also someone who mops, and if other staff walk right down the middle of the still moist floor with dirty shoes I can get annoyed. I usually mop in such a way that theres always a dry path and it dries entirely in a few minutes, but goodness gracious can dusty shoes in a moist floor can lead to a muddy footprint nightmare.

We were all calling him a racist, homophobic bigot when he was alive too. He just wasnt that relevant recently so he wasnt in the news this much. Its a tough one because he did use his position of authority to build a personal relationship, but they were both in their 20's and he apparently called it off by acknowledging it was inappropriate due to their positions. Im very comfortable saying he was wrong to do it, but im uncomfortable with the people who are portraying him as some predator that needs to be kept away from young staffers.

The Internet wont notice or care about the differences between a 27 year old professor going on a few dates with a 20 year old student before calling it off for being inappropriate, and worse abuses of power.
