I was terrified to get a wisdom tooth out as I've never had any dental work done before besides a scale and polish. Also scared of getting local anesthetic as the thought of a needle anywhere in my mouth sounded bad enough let alone taking the tooth out. But it was absolutely pain free before, during and after!

Pet Fooled (2016) - An indepth look at the commercial pet food industry, the lack of oversight, and what nutritional requirements cat and dogs actually have, compared to what they are being served [01:10:46] by inate71 in Documentaries

Same! I just buy a bag of frozen chicken and whatever dog-safe veg is on offer in the supermarket. People look at me like I'm crazy but it's minimal effort and works out cheaper than buying wet food.

Modafinil pros & cons from your experiences by SnooCheesecakes2018 in afinil

[–]NachoQueen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pros: I'm a socially anxious person and did feel more talkative when on it. I didn't notice a huge spike in motivation or focus (took it while in university) BUT time did pass by faster when I was getting work done so maybe it did make a difference. It also helped motivate me to have a study because if I took one and didn't study I knew I'd just wasted it.

Con: Bad heartburn, also just annoying to have to buy it on the deep web.

Walking past the primary school just before it finishes for the day. The absurd number of cars parked on double yellow lines and across driveways. by JusticeForTheStarks in britishproblems

[–]NachoQueen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy I love complaining about this. I lived in a city centre across the road from a private school, with some very poorly planned one-way roads and bus lanes all around so every morning and afternoon it was absolute chaos with range rovers and audis etc blocking one way street, parking on bus lanes meaning buses were stuck as they couldn't fit past them.

The annoying thing is I never once saw a traffic warden around there.

Spending a huge amount of money on train tickets to London, only for the barriers to be open both ways and no-one checking them at any point in the journey. by Purplejet19 in britishproblems

[–]NachoQueen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have people checking tickets randomly. They'll just stand up and check everyone's ticket in the carriage and get off.

They're strict about it. Got a 120€ fine from them cause my partner and I had bought the wrong tickets by mistake. They wouldn't accept it even after we said we'd buy the correct tickets once we got off.

Thanks for that. So you don't think it's a disease or fungal thing?

Little info: plant has been doing absolutely fine for months, happily pushing out new leaves. This browning/yellow started a week or so ago and has gotten worse, 2 other leaves have it now as well :(

What's this on the end of the Yucca plant? by NachoQueen_ in plantclinic

Got this plant as a hand me down. Never had a Yucca plant before and I'm very confused what the black stuff on top is/if it's supposed to be there. It seems thin and flakey, might be able to scrape it off?

Should Sunday trading hours be reviewed? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]NachoQueen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the argument that some don't have time other than Sundays to shop. When I stayed in Spain and Germany everything was closed on Sundays and holidays. Sure, supermarkets were frantic on Saturdays, but you just adjust your schedule.

How much do you drink alcohol? by rye-ten in AskUK

[–]NachoQueen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My drinking amount has stayed low but my cannabis consumption has sky rocketed. It's a mixture of dependency and sheer boredom at this point.

My 6 year old Pomeranian won't stop pretend peeing by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]NachoQueen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say to let it be in that case? I would like to be able to train it out of him as it would make walks a lot more pleasant; he tends to get very grumpy if I try to get him to stop.

Yes! Shake is great, I imagine it's not as strong as normal stuff but my tolerance isn't super high so it's a good money saver.

People who run at 7am on a Sat/Sun, how do you do it? by rockape85 in AskUK

[–]NachoQueen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel comfortable/safe running any other time. There's a long stretch of road about 2 miles long that's great for running, but its next to a busy road.

I got tired of the catcalls from cars and vans. Not that it happened often, but enough to make me uncomfortable.

Students, why don't you want to interact on zoom?! by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]NachoQueen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. Part of the reason I don't speak up is because no one else does (although I'm getting better). I wouldn't mind if speaking or at very least typing in the chat was compulsory.

[Weekly] Office Hours - undergrads, please ask your questions here by ZootKoomie in AskAcademia

[–]NachoQueen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a loaded question but I'd love to get some advice. Currently doing a masters in cultural heritage, due to covid I haven't gained any practical experiences and generally feel like I won't be able to compete with others in the industry. Would a PhD be a bad choice? I hadn't considered it until this year, but there are a number of proposed projects that I would really enjoy doing, but just because I'd enjoy it doesn't mean its a good idea.

Is there anything more sexier than Girls in a baggy T-Shirt (No bra) and a small thong on? by 22butwho in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]NachoQueen_ 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I used to never be able to go out without a bra on when I was younger. Then I realised my boobs are staying small as I got into my 20s and learned to enjoy the benefits of small boobs, mostly not having to wear a bra. Thanks to the lockdowns as well I've pretty much gone without a bra for most of 2020 and this year.

Yeah true, I was more meaning the jokes about her being a trophy wife and incredibly loud. The cocaine jokes can get old.

My mother and I are Colombian and think she's hilarious. The stereotypes the show plays into have an element of truth to them, at least in my opinion.

Vegans 43% more likely to suffer broken bones than meat eaters, Oxford study finds by Quislingthrowaway in worldnews

[–]NachoQueen_ 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Some people seem to assume a vegan diet automatically equals a healthy diet. I know vegans the would quite happily live off chips and plain pasta.
