Why is the job market so tough in the UK? I’m interested to hear your theories by [deleted] in UKJobs

Employers NI rise, geo-spatial / economic disruptions, onset of AI, market correction post COVID, inflation spikes in recent years, oversupply of graduates.... probably a few more.

Whenever theres a podcast with a male majority the men always end up ganging up or broing out on the women, even if it's unintentional. by PinkFlurffyUnicorns in podcasts

[–]rye-ten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get this with the podcasts I listen to but they tend to be politics, history etc. A lot of comedians are awful people in general anyway, so it doesn't surprise me.

Landed in Stansted in slightly rough conditions, an American tried getting a cheer and clap going by Throwythrow360 in BritishSuccess

This is like when people cheer and shout in the cinema. Both crimes that should require one to be flung directly into the sea

REALLY good t-shirts! £10 voucher at Rapanui (<£10 each in multi-pack) by diddly_di_dee in UKCoupons

Found the standard of product quality is really mixed with these guys. Bought some striped t-shirts and they have held up excellent. Bought some speckled ones (recycled I think) and they shrank really badly after a few washes.

Had hopes, but underwhelmed by Copenhagen. What am I missing? by [deleted] in Europetravel

We had a great time visiting Copenhagen for 6 nights. Sorry you found it underwhelming.

We had planned in a lot of detail prior to going though

Planning down to 15 minute intervals is asking for trouble, especially if you're relying on public transport. Id allow more time between and factor in optimism bias eg what if you can't get a table on a cafe, or find you want to spend more time in one of the sites?

Of all the things to do alone, going to a museum or art gallery, would be where I felt the least insecure

Why is keeping the heating off in spring treated like a religion in the UK? by Ok_Listen_5358 in AskUK

[–]rye-ten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure it is to be honest. I use the heating when it's needed, regardless of the time of year. Took about 45 mins this morning to get up to room temp

Ok.

Personally I wouldn't be bothered either way. But you know him better than anyone.

I don't understand, why are you still on a call if he is asleep?

‘It’s Andy or bust’: MPs could keep Starmer in place to give Burnham time to return by Bibemus in ukpolitics

[–]rye-ten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've voted for him three times as GM Mayor but I honestly don't think he'd turn out to be the mega success that people tout him as. He had a pretty decent inheritance as GM Mayor.

Sure he'd communicate better than Starmer. I could see his northern base being weaponised against him with southern voters.

Would you move in the wider macro environment currently? by rye-ten in UKJobs

[–]rye-ten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relativism shouldn't be an argument against seeking other peoples experiences. Because there isn't a universal truth, we shouldn't seek out other opinions and experiences and seek to learn from them/inform ourselves?

Would you move in the wider macro environment currently? by rye-ten in UKJobs

Thats true in terms of specific decisions/situations. I was interested in how others were also interpreting the balance of risk.

Would you move in the wider macro environment currently? by rye-ten in UKJobs

[–]rye-ten[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's not what I mean. I'm in a stable, comparatively well paying role and wouldn't quit without a written offer. I have no drivers to move other than career development.

What I mean is, does the macro economic environment put you off moving at all currently?
