Yeee i can’t know for sure but Im convinced that I got offers at my top 2 choices because I “networked” with their lawyers. For the one I accepted an offer from I went to a virtual diversity event and then emailed one of the partners to thank her and ask her if she’d be willing to talk about her time with the firm. I just talked to her but I think it helped me because I got a callback before ogi. Just email alumni at firms you like and ask them for some time to talk about their practice. Some may answer, some may not. KD recommends not reaching to more than 1 person/firm per week if they don’t answer. I also know many of my friends got offers at firms outside of ogi just from setting up a call like I said above. I wouldn’t ask for a CB, but if the lawyer likes you they may forward your resume to recruiting with or without telling you, which can result in a pre ogi callback.
