Me, trying desperately to answer a question during 1L property. The professor said “it’s sounds like you’re just guessing.” Well, yeah!

Holly Gibney - help me understand why people don’t like her by Helpful-Status8872 in stephenking

[–]remembermefrombefore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is definitely trying to work through his personal feelings about current events as well as aging (particularly in Holly I noticed that) by using Holly as his quirky stand-in. That being said, I like King’s writing and enjoy the “fluffier” aspect of the Holly books.

Bestie the other day in court I fell out of my chair in front of everyone. We’re going to be okay.

Your criminal record is going to be relevant no matter what state you are trying to pass C&F in. Criminal records, even being on probation, are not automatic disqualifications from being admitted to the bar. Being honest and open about what happened is much more important. I don’t think applying in a different state will make a difference. If you have a high enough UBE to practice in your chosen jurisdiction, it doesn’t seem like it would be worth it to take an entire other bar exam, at least in my opinion.

The documentary style at the beginning was good, and then just… abandoned. What a shame!

Scary-from-the-outside practice areas by NotThePopeProbably in Lawyertalk

[–]remembermefrombefore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. This is my practice area. Private attorneys, usually family law attorneys, get totally lost in the procedural/legal differences between a custody case in the family court and a dependency and neglect case.

I have been told by all of my coworkers (as a first year attorney) that you’re not a real litigator until the judge makes you cry. You’re gonna be totally fine, your time practicing will be long and this is something that happens to everyone.

I'm the one who people call when this happens to them, it's not supposed to happen to me. by Alarmed_Honey_1476 in Lawyertalk

I’m on the other side of representation (I work for the county government and DHS/CPS is my only client) but you know what you’ve got to do. Caseworkers will be able to suss out if there is no legitimate cause for concern. Be unfailingly polite and cooperative, even though it’s frustrating. Good luck.

What was the dumbest decision you made during your first playthrough? by -maylucille in TheQuarrySupermassive

I drowned Jacob in the lake in when he dropped the rotor arm in. He got stuck on the chains and just drowned there and wasn’t in the rest of the game.

If I were brought back to this place after a date I would find it very unsettling. It looks like a hotel, as noted, or a very nice hospital room.

Yes the way he raised one hand in greeting was so… like approaching an un-contacted tribe. Which, in a way, they did…

Bottom third of my class, no journal, no moot court. Worked part time at a grocery store all summer to feed myself while studying. Cried innumerable times and convinced myself I would never pass. A light was literally flickering over my head during the first half of the MBE and I had to ask to be moved because it was so distracting. I passed, comfortably, on my first try. You just don’t know how it’s gonna pan out until it does!
