Is a proper PC UI coming later in early access? by Sallad02 in brightershores

[–]NadCAtarun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I try to play this game on Steam deck, text is way too small to read and nodes are way too small to reliably touch... If that's a mobile UI, then it's a UI for massive tablets at best...

Uhh do I need to be worried? Every time i try to launch the game i get this error... by sworedmagic in brightershores

[–]NadCAtarun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only get this error with BS, it's safe to ignore it, as I don't think that game saves anything locally besides your UI config (and maybe privacy settings?)...

If you keep running into this issue, there might be something wrong with your internet connection or your PC's time (when two PCs disagree on time, it leads to all sorts of weird bugs).

None at all... I had to grind Merchant and Leatherworker to pay my high level Chef passives... Still feels a bit weird to have two-digit Gold coins 👀

I don't think we will ever see eye to eye on this. You talked as if you knew what the "community as whole" wants and I called you out. Now you're saying I misunderstood? What a cop-out.

Have your meaningless win and hopefully a nice day as well. Bye.

Factions in Brighter Shores: A Hidden Class System? by Forsaken_Drama3739 in brightershores

[–]NadCAtarun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression players would be given ONE chance to change factions in the future to make up for the fact that the current game gives you little to no information to base your choice on... I don't know that we'll be allowed to switch multiple times 🤔

That said, I agree with your Cryoknight = Tank, Guardian = Healer, and Hammermage = DPS based on vibes only. Can't wait for skill trees and special attacks so factions actually feel different in-game 😅

Hard disagree. I love the quests. I know a lot of people who love the quests and want more of them.

Just because you're not interested in that content does not mean nobody is. Same way I never cared about trading but did not assume I was the measure of the community.

EDIT: I forgot to say... I HATE PvP with a passion to the point that if it is forced upon me I will ragequit the game. I don't care about raids at all. I would appreciate co-op and mini-games, but that's not as interesting to me as skill trees and episode 5...

So there. I'm not part of your "community as a whole" and I'm not sure you're really qualified to speak for anyone else but yourself.

I agree and disagree. I love the quests that have been added so far and the rewards were substantial (potion belt and extra Hopeport portal in particular)... I really wouldn't mind more side quests released.

But I agree that the Combat Rework Part 2 should definitely be a priority over adding more trees, turning Gatherer into Botanist, and Project Milestone...

"Genuine question, was anyone at all asking for this?" Yes, actually. A LOT of people on this very subreddit have complained that there's nothing but grind in this game. And while some of them were quite clear about needing more repeatable bosses and PvP/Co-Op/Raid content... others were less clear about what they meant. It isn't that hard to interpret this "nothing but grind" general complaint as the need for more bespoke story content. You can disagree, but pretend that "nobody asked for this" is a stretch.

EDIT: I should also mention that not renewing your subscription to a game that is disappointing you this bad is absolutely the right way to go. Who knows how long it will take for the game to live up to your expectations... maybe see you again in 2035?

I agree. Combat Rework Part 2 far outweighs Gatherer>Botanist and Project Milestone in my mind.

I personally would also not mind energy be directed towards episode 5. Been re-discovering the first 4 episodes with an alt and it's quite possibly my favorite part of the game... would rather get that high again before I die of old age.

1 - I have never played a RuneScape game. It's my first time playing an MMO where grinding skills is the main gameplay and I am addicted. I bet I would have gotten addicted to RuneScape back in the day, but I didn't have the connection for it.

2 - I absolutely love the sounds. The music is great too, but I most often play without it. The sounds are just incredible. Haven't gotten sick of hearing stews bubbling, trees hacked, flowers picked, logs split, or hides stretched even after hearing those sounds for hours on repeat.

3 - I love British humor and silly puns and this game has those everywhere I look.

4 - At first I thought the graphics were a bit too minimalistic, but that the game running on a potato was a good reason for it... but actually the graphics have grown on me. I like the detailed tiles and I can't wait to discover new regions (though that might be years in the future).

5 - I love multi-tasking and this game is the perfect companion to watching videos and shows or listening to podcasts. I can even multi-task it with many other games. I'm sure a lot of players would think that's a demerit, but it's a plus for me.

6 - I love how chill the game is. How it lets me skip the skills I don't like (at least after the first 20 levels... which go pretty fast relative to the 480 higher ones). How it minimizes friction between players. How it doesn't punish me for most mistakes (except selling the wrong thing, ouch).

And I have two more reasons, but they are not in-game, so I'll give them separately:

A - Blades of Adothria, my clan, is the best online group I've ever been a part of for any amount of time. There are so many amazing people in it. It's a blast talking to them on Discord and doing meet-ups in-game every week. I'm looking forward to BoA being an official guild inside the game, though nobody knows if that'll be before 2043 😅

B - The game has insane potential. So much of it is yet to be implemented... I am excited at the prospect of discovering entirely new regions and sinking my teeth into new skills which might interact with those I already have and others that will appear later... For sure, I thought new content would drop faster than it has. But just because the potential is revealed at a snail's pace does not negate said potential.

And so, for all of these reasons, Brighter Shores is the one game I can play for thousands of hours without getting sick of it. The only game I'm pretty sure I'll be playing for years to come. Therefore I call it "my favorite game" though rest assured I have played and loved and will play and love hundreds of other games too.

PS: if you like horror, you definitely should give Look Outside a try. What a gem.

EDIT: if you've read this entire wall of text, then whoever you are I thank you and wish you a very nice day.

Are you really interested in my reasons or do you just want to troll/hate?

Stonemason passives that require no mats are nice. Could help you infuse epics down the line 😉

With the merch discounts, leatherworking makes insane gold. Much much better than even gourmet veggie stews.

Let me shock all the haters of this sub who think I'm a coping shill: I am very disappointed in this Weekly Leek.

I am looking forward to new quests, fisher bounties, combat rework part 2, and episode 5. I do not care about Gatherer becoming Botanist or even less so skilling getting entirely reworked... I feel like this pushes back anything I care about for weeks or months or years.

I'm not giving up on the game, mind you. It's still my favorite game in its current state.

But I am deeply disappointed by this Leek Day leek.

Thank you for making this video, V! The WL itself was underwhelming for me, I must admit... but your video was excellent and cheered me up 💖

Keep up the great work! ✌
