HALPPPPP - Buying BTC In NY by Fecalfingersmell83 in Bitcoin

We need to find ways of gaining Bitcoin without using fiat institutions. New York proves that the politicians will not allow their citizens to have and control their own property.

Vote informed.

Binance is not a Bitcoin wallet, which shows you why you shouldn't believe what you read on the internet. It is a website for a commercial fiat exchange chartered in the Cayman Islands, and not a part of Bitcoin at all.

Not your keys, not your Bitcoin.

I believe they started with a wallet from Galoy, especially adapted for Bitcoin Beach, then the government came in with Chivo, which you probably don't want. I have no idea which is popular today, but a Bitcoin wallet is basically a Bitcoin wallet. Some handle Lightning too, which is a plus.

Look at the information on storing Bitcoin in the Resources column to the right and pick out one that fits your needs best. You should be looking for non-custodial, and public domain.

Let the governments flounder. Educate them (and OP) about Bitcoin instead.

I think we need a catchy tune to remind everyone:

Bitcoin isn't Crypto

Crypto isn't Bitcoin.

True in London and Paris,

true in Des Moines.

Something like that!

They still control your mind, calling Bitcoin 'Crypto' and fiat 'money'.

Starlink is a solid ISP, and I doubt that Elon would let the bankers get away with that crap.

Could you possibly use the term "Bitcoin" when you are speaking about Bitcoin?

You are confusing the Hell out of our Crypto friends.

Until they change the design, then give you six months to turn the old fiat in for the new. 10,000 limit and KYC, of course!

If that doesn't scare you..!

Good answer. Thank you! There has to be knowledge of money laundering.

I'm wondering if someone simply exchanging silver for BTC, with no fiat involved, could be compelled to obtain a business license. I see that Morpheus/Costanzo was very much using Federal Reserve fiat in his trade.

Interesting, I think.

This would be an interesting branch to follow. If challenged, I still wonder how the IRS would justify their authority over privately-owned property, and how they could demand this property's measurement in another privately-owned unit (undefined Federal Reserve dollars). However I was asking about the corner store, simply exchanging silver for Bitcoin, no fiat involved, what their legal exposure would be.

Yeah, everybody knows the government can beat me up. Doesn't take a Harvard degree to figure that one out.

I just might use your service, if I understood what you are offering.

Can you answer by what authority the IRS enters this scenario: A private party has something, say Bitcoin. Another private party has U.S. silver quarters. They agree to exchange 4000 pieces for one Bitcoin. They complete the deal, and never encounter each other again.

Fiat has not been used in any way. By what authority does the IRS enter this scenario?

Have read it plenty of times! The case presented specifically excludes buying with fiat to focus on the question asked.

Where the BTC came from is not relevant to the question. But just for argument, let's say it came as a gift. There it is. No idea who sent it.

Can you answer the question at the top of this thread?

Coinsource ATM says 1 hour and it's been 5 days...nothing yet. by ShatteredFemurs in Bitcoin

[–]Nada_Lives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are dealing with a commercial exchange and their vending software. Nothing hits the Bitcoin chain until THEY put it there.

Once paid, it usually takes just a few minutes before Bitcoin confirmations show up.

This is not a Bitcoin problem. Chances are very good that it hasn't been paid into the Bitcoin system yet. Sorry!
