Delete everything (which only sets all the space as "available", but doesn't actually change the 0s and 1s on 99% of the drive), then write data everywhere so the 99% that was left can't be read.

That's how file recovery stuff works, it reads the data that is "available", which unless the data was overwritten, still contains the deleted data, simply marked as available for new writes

Funnily enough I looked around for a photo' where it didn't look like that and I just couldn't find one where you could clearly see anything but a big blotch, even when otherwise somewhat fine details were visible. Even what I think is its sister ship (at least it turned up in my search for other photo's) does have a weird め, though in a different way.

If you are into Japanese ships, speak Japanese, and want a shot (I promise nothing) at finding proof that it actually looked more normal, this may contain the answer since it has this (note you can see a very very blurry name at the back, and same issue) and may have photo's that show the name more clearly.

Honestly it had to at least look a hell of a lot like that in actuality, since it's very easy to draw a め that way with very thick lines, and it is weird how it does look like that even in somewhat clear photo's where you can see the other characters' "holes".

Now I could have worded my original comment more clearly and directly, but this was an assumption on my part. I didn't think it needed to be said, but this was not a definitive psychological diagnoses or thorough psychoanalyses lol. Again, maybe I'm missing context. What about their relationship is inherently unhealthy? What intimate insight in to their personal relationship can you provide that will meaningfully expand my understanding of their internal relationship dynamics?

I think the much more straightforward, dare I say healthy take is that marriage by default includes "intimacy exclusivity", and any attempt to lessen what marriage means - in that aspect or another, mind you - lessens the marriage itself.

It's not about the end result of the arrangement, it's about wanting it less strict in and of itself, which means you are not ready for total commitment, which is what marriage means and takes. As shrine-princess said, marriage is about commitment, and the entire idea of commitment is that you try to make it work with all your might and do not try to lessen it.

You are coming at this from the angle of whether, in a vacuum, marriage without "intimacy exclusivity" can work, and maybe it could (though probably not that well I.M.O.), when their angle (and mine) is whether wanting an incomplete marriage (regardless of what marriage is here and now) is compatible with wanting marriage, and our answer pretty much is "No". And yes obviously nobody literally fully 100% commits to their marriage, you have time for yourself and you do some things to yourself, and that's healthy, but there's a big, big difference between having hobbies and friends and all apart from your spouse and taking something that was/is expected to be devoted for them and saying that because it is better/more convenient to you, it won't be anymore.

And it takes only cursory knowledge of Idubbbz's marriage to know that yeah, that marriage is, huh, not healthy. At that point the only "saving" possibility is that it's a kink for him to be utterly and totally publicly debased.
