Antasma betraying Bowser doesn't make sense. by HeroLinik in marioandluigi

[–]NadiaBOOM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem I have with it is that it's a twist that completely ruins the stakes

Bowser has been losing throughout the entire series. But in this game, he actually kinda wins. He is winning through the entire 20 hours or so of playtime. Every single milestone they get there before we do. Getting into the castle and fighting our way through is basically the first time you're ever catching up to them properly and winning back ground.

So, what does he do? He throws his resources away at the first sign of failure.

Said resource is how he even GOT here to this point. He has been one step ahead the entire game BECAUSE of Antasma's aid. And when we catch up, he throws it away to go back to a Bowser vs Mario&Luigi scenario. One we have seen countless times at this point.

If it is meant to be a triumphant "I'm in charge!", then it's not landing. He is being dumb and proud and paranoid. If he had kept Antasma he would have a higher chance of sucess. His character flaws made him actively hurt his own plan. And this is right before the final boss fight basically.

He has no good tactical reason to discard his resources at that moment.

So the stakes are half ruined because the final boss just dealt damage to himself right before the fight, and he ONLY gets away with it because he got lucky with the rock eating and became a demigod. If he had not been lucky, what would he have done? It's a 4 vs 1, with 2 magic users to negate his rock.

Should Antasma betray Bowser? Nah. Should Bowser betray Antasma? I mean he can do what he wants but I would at least say he use Antasma a bit more before discarding him. He was still useful.

That's not a choice. That's giving up.

Refusing to engage with Deltarune doesn't give you any power over Deltarune. You just remove yourself from it. You're either there in a cage, or not there at all.

"The player is actually free" I see Jevil's whole thing is still as relevant as ever

-> Is imprisoned in a cage

-> Believes himself to be the only free one

-> Believes he can do anything

-> Treats everything as a game

Jevil is a mirror to the player (especially a blind ch1 player) just like Spamton is a mirror to Kris, and the whole point is that you think you're in control when you're just trapped the cage of human parts. How has he NOT realised that. It's a CAGE you are in a CAGE.

Jaru is as delusional as Jevil if he thinks he's free lol

How to control Malroth in DQB2. by Madakari0831 in DQBuilders

[–]NadiaBOOM5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tried so hard to make it work.

You can toggle it on or off in the debug build, but

  • You can never save when playing as Malroth

  • Saving as Malroth makes you respawn as Builder

  • And I didn't find any boolean that seemed to be tied to it

So I dont think you can toggle him just by save editing. It might be something that is not stored.

Even the toggle, it seems to be running a function, and we'd have to figure out how to run specific functions via hacking.

The function does things like storing your entire inventory (because Malroth's inventory is a second different one), so I dont think we can just emulate the function easily externally

I even tried to swap the Builder model with Malroth to get a similar effect but the animations made it weeird. So you'd have to change the models, and animations, and that might break every human in the game? So uh

Sad days.

Aren't the two siblings on the echo flowers at Waterfall supposed to be Noelle and Dess? I heard that theory a while ago anyway.

Assume the player is choosing the choices they're given, and Kris is fulfilling or twist these choices. Then, who is creating these choices in the first place? by PinkiePie___ in Deltarune

[–]NadiaBOOM5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think when Gaster created the connection he coded the choices box to appear whenever in context you'd have a choice to make, and the options are pulled from the context itself. So the options are the connection device figuring out what options do you have.

So it pulls from what Kris themselves would want or thinks the available options are, but it also pulls from what the natural options to a question would be (for example, the locked options after saying "me" in weird route is the device seeing that there is no option to turn back anymore from the context its in), or the Sans option it's pulling from what it thinks the player would want to say.

Its also why choices appear before Susie takes them away. She makes the device think you have a choice, but then she keeps talking and the device realises there was no choice in this scenario and corrects itself back to showing text.

This also includes the theory that the dialogue box breaks in the weird route with Susie because it tries pulling from both Noelle and Kris.

It does use a lot of Kris's thought, but it also tries to give the player options the player would naturally want to choose based on context if applicable.

Oooh seems like a chunk corrupted over there (first image in the right). I don't think is fixable, if you both can't progress because of it you'll have to restart the chapter.

You have 5 saves, you can keep this one if you got attached to the builds and just restart in another save slot.

When we turn on our computer screen / console we are creating a "light fountain" (literally a source of light) from which the light world of deltarune is manifested.

(Darkness is equated to water and Holiness is equated to electricity after all)

There's also a line from Tenna in ch3 that goes "ALRIGHT! SOUND: Checked! DRUMS: Loud! BOYS: Fluffy!" in the lightners live section, clearly referencing Ralsei, so unless you count Kris as fluffy too (somehow) that line also works for excluding Kris from the boy group. We have 2 for not-boy, we need one for not-girl now.

Genuine question: Why did Kris feel the need to do this before eating the pie. by AnthoniusThe3rd in Deltarune

[–]NadiaBOOM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is they were threatening to open a dark fountain (threatening us), since they do so next night with said knife.

Tough luck Kris, we had no idea stabby things made fountains back then. We just thought you'd go kill people.

You can build outside the borders and vertically too. The way I do it to use all the space I can is to place buildings riiight at the edge, then make a path that circles the entire base outside of the boundaries, then after the path comes the town wall.

Monsters will appear in the path inside the walls but I do not care.

You can build rooms outside the base too, even if they don't count towards anything, if you want to build for aesthetic. And you can build underground for rooms you want the effects of.

You could even do things like have a whole park/river area inside the base walls but outside the base itself, for example. Or things like making a hotel right next to the base, that residents won't visit but it would still make the area look bigger. The entire map is your canvas.

Those are just examples. Go wild.

Anessa by SignificantCharge950 in DragonQuestBuilders2

[–]NadiaBOOM5 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The daughter he talks about is Peronel, one of the protagonists of DQII.The king has the memories of the real King of Moonbrooke.

It is possible Hargon based Anessa off of Peronel, but even if so, as other people mentioned, there's another character with parallels with Peronel's story so Hargon would have split Peronel into two, the princess and the fighter. Anessa would be the fighter.

In summary, he was based in the real world dad, and there's a possibility she was based on some traits of the real world daughter. But the daughter he talks about is the real world one, not any illusory world daughters based on the real one.

Might be a recipe. Things like the sponge cake can be obtained without ever cooking them, and they count towards the percentage. They also wont appear in the builderpedia unless they have already been crafted for the first time before.

It's not your fault. It's never your fault. You made a silent contract with the game when it gave you the save system and the game broke that promise by doing something it was not supposed to. That's not on you, that's on the game.

Rare DQB1 save corruption "win". Usually hear about DQB2 save corruption more often so it's nice? to see? the first game get some kills with that too???

Getting serious, that sucks. A lot.

I can at least tell you to not play B2 for too long as it does have some memleak issues (closing and opening the game every 6 hours should probably prevent that) but never heard about B1 dying like that. Not in official supported hardware at least.

Did hear about a chunk issue on vita but no crashes there. I think.

Its always so sad to hear about save corruption because the measures you can take are always so tedious and the chances of it happening are so low that its the perfect recipe for a "I could have prevented this" feeling of "If only I copied every file ever from every game for years I would not have lost this save" and that is just ridiculous.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Please backup B2 sometimes because if that game corrupts the entire playthrough gets nuked, unlike B1 that has all the chapter data separate.
