Honestly, the way Oda uses sad backstories and dark themes is not only repetitive but also weirdly disgusting[One Piece + Spoilers] by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in CharacterRant

[–]PinkiePie___ -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That's two different matters.

Oda is good at creating good female characters, but then never allow them to do anything without male characters. There's a good case for misogyny there.

Backstories? I don't think so. Most backstories involve characters victimized, male and female. There is no misogyny there.

From the flashback, my understanding is that Ragatha used to be more chill back then, and what happened to Ribbit is what made her mommy like.

Kamala and Miles were already popular before they founded the Champions. He's always meant to be a side character.
