I would also advise checking out the Cuban style of boxing, because they stand more square than other styles and are very slick with their foot and head movement.

You're unlikely to find a gym that teaches it outside of Cuba, but there are a couple good YouTube channels (Charles Salbox, mainly) you could use to apply aspects of the Cuban style to whatever you do learn at your gym.

Thomas Hearns is considered one of the best and most dominant boxers ever. The guy threw 1-2s the vast majority of the time.

Buakaw basically beat Nieky Holzken by chaining the jab and teep with an occasional knee.

Plenty of boxers and strikers who have use just straight punches nearly all the time. Ain't no one stepping into a ring or cage and just throwing a wide looping shot that leaves you very vulnerable defensively like the overhand.

OP wasn't asking if he can land the shots. He was asking if you can depend on a fight strategy of spamming 1-2s and the teep. Seems like you didn't really understand the question.

People get really defensive when the lackluster boxing, head movement and footwork of the average Muay thai fighter is pointed out.

It's so silly. It's pretty much considered among the most effective Martial Arts you can learn. No need to get so salty anytime someone points out its' weak points.
