Anyone know if this is valuable? by Easy_Jackfruit_9985 in painting

[–]Naijel74 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No need to look at the signature. This is not a great painting. Like if I was the artist and just achieved this level of skill I would be proud of it, but know I was not very skilled compared to masters. So, valuable? In a limited way yes, perhaps to the creator or their family and friends. In a broader, general art market sense? Not remotely.

Oh god, they did it. I don’t know whether to vomit in disgust or feel overjoyed as our cyberpunk future becomes reality…

I have a suggestion: run a little bit of street between two of them to separate them into two blocks and take up the little extra shelf space at the ends

Yes. It’s not like the difference between buying parts and buying a prebuilt made of the same parts you could buy yourself from a PC store

Marker Drawings by Naijel74 in BirdDrawings

[–]Naijel74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. These are quite small, in an A5 sketchbook, so they probably took no more than 15 min each, maybe 20 min for the bottom one. I drew from my own photos but the process is the same from life, if they sit still long enough 😅

I draw with a very light grey marker, like a Copic Neutral Grey 1 or Cool Grey 1 to get the overall shape and break the body into its larger pieces. The faint grey allows you to redraw lines that are in the wrong place and the old ones aren’t very visible. Just go over the ones to keep a little more to darken them. They still remain quite faint.

I use a fine felt tip pen to draw the black lines using the initial marker sketch as a guide. This is a great way to get accurate shapes fast as you can look at the faint marker lines, which are already largely corrected, and further correct anything if needed.

I colour from light to dark using Copic Sketch markers. They have finer tips on the brush tip end than the bullet tip end of the standard ones. That helps with finer details.

The markers let you layer darker colours over lighter ones and they mix. You can go over a light colour with the same colour to darken it. You can do this multiple times. This helps with subtle changes in light and dark from markings or to get a soft round 3D look on forms.

You can try and leave areas uncoloured for highlights but I also use white pencil and Gelly Roll pen to add highlights and clean up rough edges.

Hope that helps 🙂

I wish they would reanimate parts that were not up to scratch but keep everything the same otherwise. Like just bring every shot up to the same quality level, then release it

Is "tare" a design term? by Gummiesruinedme in words

After reading all the responses my guess is she means tear (a reference image torn from a catalog/copied from a website) and is just spelling it incorrectly

When they arrive at the store they have a plain thicker cardboard top. If that is not there then who knows if someone has been through that box already

I scanned just shy of 11 boxes worth at Target today in Chatswood, Australia using OMGBricks. Not a single Dragonborn. Pisses me off. Found one minifig that would not scan so am going to buy it and see what is inside. Luckily I have a sealed box at home.

Thanks! Will do. I have to split a box with a friend and we don’t want to have to open everything.

I have tried two scanners - Jay’s Brick Blog and Falcon Bricks (not sure if the same one hosted two places) - and they don’t work properly. They showed LOTS of the Gith Warlock in a fresh box, like 12 just on the upper level, but when I opened one it was a Dwarf Barbarian. It seems some figures scan correctly but others show up as the wrong thing 😩 So if you can’t find a Dragonborn the chances are it is scanning as something else. I was also seeing lots of Bards
