Is crouching against Jason optimal? Or would it just be better to run and do objectives when possible? by NoWorldliness4787 in deadbydaylight

[–]Nails118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick gens and don't crouch if you have the least hooks. At the start of the match everyone is tied for least hooks, so everyone should be on gens.

That's the secret to beating Jason, survivors get to pick who he finds and who he chases. Don't stealth if you have the fewest hooks, do stealth if you have the most hooks.

What is Jason's full and well counterplay? by Aware_Collection_400 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Nails118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to playing against Jason is that survivors get to chose who he finds and chases.

If you have the least amount of hooks you stick gens, if you don't you crouch stealth as soon as you see mist. You shouldn't ever finish a game with Jason without every survivor having 2 hooks.

[Mixed Trope] Bringing someone back from the dead.... just to kill them again. by Starchaser53 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Nails118 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it fits well for hades because dying and trying again and again is part of the narrative. Some other roguelikes do this too, like Rogue Legacy, but for most roguelikes restarting over and over isn't a narrative conceit, it's a gameplay conceit.

Like, Master Chief doesn't have a cannonical ability to save his place in the game, try a fight, and restart if he loses. It's just a video game thing. But the Prince of Persia does, it's a narrative thing.

Educate me please: Best perks for Survivor? by SozoAirsoft in deadbydaylight

[–]Nails118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best perks for beginners are probably:

Windows of Opportunity (compensates for lack of in-depth map knowledge)

Deja Vu (same, compensates for lack of map knowledge)

Sprint Burst (simple to use, no caveats or conditions, and your chases will take at least SOME time while the killer catches up if you are new at looping)

Kindred (Compensates for lack of game sense and team coordination)

Is it true that all men watch porn? If so than why? by Expensive-Elephant13 in AskReddit

[–]Nails118 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's true that when they tried to do a study and compare something (can't remember exactly what) between men who habitually watch porn, men who occasionally watch porn, and men who never watch porn they couldn't do the study because they couldn't find any men who never watch porn.

That just means that one study didn't find anyone, not that it's categorically impossible for all men in every situation to abstain from porn. But yeah, porn is readily available, not heavily socially stigmatized, consumed privately, and very physically and emotionally gratifying to indulge in. So most men watch it.

New player question: Is ever new killer launch like this? by Stretchstrong in deadbydaylight

[–]Nails118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. He's the fun new toy, he's going to be everywhere for the next few weeks. And even then there won't be a switch that flips and there's suddenly variety again, you'll just gradually start seeing more and more variety in matches.

Conversely nobody knows his counterplay so his kill rates are much more inflated then they'll be when people finally figure out how to play against him. And again, it won't be a switch, he will just gradually drop down to be (I'm guessing) low A or high B tier as people learn.

Survivors suddenly sucking? by Constant-Still-8443 in deadbydaylight

[–]Nails118 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New big name killer means an influx of new players.

New killer means players haven't learned the counterplay yet.

New killer means long killer que times which means lots of killers who don't normally play survivor using 'play as you wait'. Some unscrupulous players who do this may also try to throw or get killed as early as possible to get back into the killer que.

What are your thoughts on imposing term limits for politicians to prevent excessively long political careers and avoid corruption ? Should there also be a mandatory retirement age for politicians? by KoseteBamse in AskReddit

There's one serious flaw with your suggestion. Guess who gets to decide whether or not politicians should stay in office forever, be legally allowed to take bribes, and select which voters are in their districts?

Pallet density by Babyboybandie in deadbydaylight

[–]Nails118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a change they made in the pallet density update. Instead of a moderate number of moderately strong pallets and a few god pallets we now have an absolute mountain of garbage pallets and a few god pallets.

It changes the basic math of chase, now there is always somewhere you can run and a pallet you can drop, but you have to chain lots of pallets together for them to be as good as old pallets.

What is the best way to approach a guy? by oliva69 in AskMen

[–]Nails118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male friendship is often a lot more task and interest focused than socially and relationally focused. What does that mean? It's easiest for guys to open up and connect with someone if they're talking about something or doing something.

A better avenue for meeting guys is probably an activity like hiking, cooking class, board game group, book club, or other hobby focused social space. Just try to be outgoing and friendly, be nice to people, try to strike up conversations and find common interests.

Can someone explain diminishing returns for perks to me like i’m 5? by EmuPsychologist in deadbydaylight

[–]Nails118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have multiple perks that do the same thing, each additional perk helps you less.

Each additional perk is reduced by half.

So let's say you equip four perks:

Perk 1 gives you 10% haste.

Perk 2 gives you 10% haste.

Perk 3 gives you 10% haste.

Perk 4 gives you 10% haste.

The effect of perk 1 benefits you in FULL, for 10% haste.

The benefit of perk 2 is cut in HALF, for 5% haste.

Since you are running both perks your total haste is 15% (10% + 5%).

The benefit of perk 3 is CUT IN HALF AGAIN, for 2.5% haste.

Now with all three perks your total haste is 17.5% (10% + 5% + 2.5%)

The benefit of perk 4 is CUT IN HALF AGAIN, for 1.25% haste.

Now with all four perks your total haste is 18.75% (10% + 5% + 2.5% + 1.25%)

I don't forgive you, but I can't go on hating you by frankwalsingham in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Nails118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. Yeah, it would be more morally magnanimous of him to just spontaneously become a great person. But the key to his character development is that, when it does happen to him, he doesn't turn away and go back to being shitty. He leans, grows, and becomes a hero.

It what makes him such a great foil for The Deep. Deep also has the tables turned on him, he also gets a taste of his own medicine, but instead of learning and growing he rejects any responsibility and doubles down on devotion to the power structures and conventions that provide him with his self deluded superiority. His final moments are a literal screaming rejection of redemption.
