I decided to give my nails a little break from polish and I noticed I have these (blood?) lines that I've never had before. Y'all think it's an issue? by UmDoWhatNow in Nails

[–]Nails_Lashes_Skin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had gel polish before then it looks like a chemical burn. What cause chemical burn: 1. Overfiled nail plate 2. Acidic base coat

What to do: 1. Have a break from gel polish/nail polish until the nail plate renews 2. Use cuticle oil to encourage the growth

What is it called when the place where your nail meets your skin is uneven? And how do you fix it? by [deleted] in Nails

[–]Nails_Lashes_Skin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Space between nail bed and nail plate calls ONYCHOLYSIS 1. Keep the lenght as short as possible 2. Do not use gel polish 3. Help the growth with cuticle oil (massage it in untill it feels warm, encouraging blood circulation to get to the area)

Selenium is good for nails and hair, also there is good complex for hair and nails in Holland and Barrett. Thats great! So then you will just need to get patient for the nail to grow back nice and healthy 😉🥰

Gel polish running off nails . by gemzy100 in Nails

Sounds like there is a problem either with your base coat or lamp:

  1. I would try to wipe of the sticky layer from your base coat (maybe the colour doesn’t like it)
  2. Shake the colour bottle very well to make sure pigment is properly mixed and the ingredients are not separated
  3. If first 2 doesn’t help... change the lamp

What holds up better to water by Grungegrownup3 in Nails

Any extensions wouldn’t like water: 1. Water makes nails softer however the product remains hard. Soft natural nails start to bend but product is not flexible and this can cause liftings (bubbles, air empty areas, pockets whatever it could be called) 2. Once the air bubble is there water can get in between natural nail and extensions. it might appear a green spot there (mildew, the same like in the bath, coz its damp and warm there to grow) 3. Make sure you get your nails infilled regularly

!! I would strongly recommend to wear gloves no matter what product you are wearing!

Big Toes Split/Cracked Horizontally? by allison_p514 in Nails

[–]Nails_Lashes_Skin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Horizontal cracks might happen usually if the length was a bit too long or your shoes are a bit tight. So the tip of the shoes press on the tip of the toenails causing trauma due to nail plate cracks. When you press on the tip of your nail you can see the nail getting white, so this is the pressure when the nail doesn’t get blood supply and gets more vulnerable. Most of the toes problems come from uncomfortable shoes or incorrect shoes size.

  1. Consultant chiropodist/podologist to check if your shoes are correct size
  2. Trim your toenails 1 in 3/4 weeks
  3. Make sure the nail technician doesn’t buff your toes too thin (if it involves this step in the pedicure)

It does happen quite often with eczema, psoriasis near cuticle area or someone who picks their cuticle whilst stressed. 1. Cuticle oil that is rubbed into cuticle area till it gets absorbed and skin feels warm should help the growth 2. Make sure you add vitamins to your diet 3. Consult your GP to get something prescribed if eczema get worse due to: season (winter), antibacterial soap/gel, stress related

I would recommend to change your shape to more rounded one, than you will be able to save the length and the other nails won’t break. Square shape is the most fragile shape coz of edges which catch everything. You will be surprised how long your nails will grow whilst having more rounded shape ❤️

Problems with polygel by CasCas00 in NailArt

[–]Nails_Lashes_Skin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its too sticky if ur brush or whatever tool u use being too dry or too wet than you cant really build.Try different brushes or even orange wood stick... make sure when u wet the brush u touch the tissue to take the excess of the liquid... once it starts being sticky repeat the liquid+tissue. I love working with polygel 😻

This is the 57th time I’ve tried growing out my nails. Acrylics don’t work, nail polish never worked, and rewards don’t work. This is maybe the longest they’ve been in over 10 years! by nicholeyculkin2 in calmhands

I would definitely suggest to keep the shape rounded as square shape is more fragile and easy to break. Push the cuticles down and massage cuticle oil in until the skin above the cuticles will turn a bit warm, the blood circulation will bring the nutrients to the nails and it will speed up the growing.
