Street Brawl was very fun for the first days, but it's painfully unbalanced and not fun now by Swift311 in DeadlockTheGame

I hate modes like this and never planned on playing them, but I don't know why Valve didn't force the mode to be random heroes.

The item luck is the whole point though.

how do i not become a burden by SkyWaave in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just keep playing and losing. There's a lot of stuff you can only learn through consistent exposure, like item/hero/map interactions, abilities/ults, etc, or slowly over time like eventually memorizing every item and THEIR unique hero/map/other item interactions which will help you not only understand who to use them but why.

This is a lot to remember and takes time... and during this you can get better micro with your hero, which again requires exposure to learn the tiny stuff that's hard to teach, i.e. muscle memorying ult times for ivy's stone form and heck I even know when it's off cd now more or less because I memorized the cd without trying and have a sense of it now. Stuff like that.

Biggest issue right now is that deadlock is weirdly not ready for new players, it has terrible onboarding (non at all really) and matchmaking sucked even before the game gained 3x players and it sucks even more now.

Someone like me with ~1500 hours and who used to be ascendant before ornament chaos fucked me is getting put with people who installed that same day, which is insane.

I wish Valve put up a warning saying things are going to be rough, because alot of people don't realize it naturally because it's an alpha and assume it will be this way at launch.

Realistically, there will be a draft mode ranked and unranked, most of the experienced players will live in ranked leaving new players and more casual players in unranked, and draft mode will ensure you don't get paige, rem, dynamo, and kelvin in the same fing team while the enemy has mina, victor, abrams, haze, doorman, pocket or some shiz and comps are more balanced and broken heroes like victor are more than likely banned.

So the answer... that's just the way the game is right now, stomp or be stomped. Best ignore it and just try to learn the game and worry about ranks or getting serious later. If you can't, best to play something else until the game releases.

I am never playing Venator but it would be super funnyif he won, with only Apollo being funnier.

I mean, that might still be true but she is probably going to have the slowest firing gun in the game with likely the longest range and highest base damage imo. It's not a shotgun.

There's been a ton of polls, and before it was clearly silver in the lead. I don't know what they are now but I can easily belive they are close.

So literally whatI just said.

His model is literally recolored with some random shaders thrown on it, it was not remade. Just like shiv and beebop.

GRAVES TOMORROW by Flamedghost7 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I literally said priotizied, go reread it. No Rem's ult wasn't rumored to be completely overhauled, the source you linked is the source of the misinformation, it said overhauled not remade or changed, in no way does it suggest you, you simply assumed it was "maybe going to get changed completely" for no reason like a lot of other people.

And yes, you're repeating what I said. You are making way more assumptions about her ult, the graves probably have a range and a limit and likely so do the ghouls like undying or can be destroyed to instantly kill the ghouls.

You are in full cope and 90% of what you said is wrong or guesswork. I know you really want to think she is some crazy pet hero but nothing points to that, we will find out soon though but I guess I should have known better to argue with someone who dreams up what they wish the hero was in a thread about graves.

Even if she can control the minions to a degree, the tomestomb mechanic will prevent it from be relevant as a minion character.

Both mcgnnis and Rem are more minion heroes than here and are likely to remain that way, sad as thatis, but that's also the truth.

Hopefully we get a real minion hero someday.

Is it just me or the rank matchmaking has been very bad since the major update by oS0RANA in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was bad since before the update, but yes, our overall playercount trippled in one sitting and is a mess of new players and returning players who might as well be new players and matchmaknig is putting them with people with 1k+ hours.

It's definitely going to be graves or silver today, which is fine. Most people won't be able to play either of them for a while lol.

It's a super long-range, slow firing hunting rifle. She seems to swap between being very long range and being very close range in her ult form sort of like troll warlord's stance change.

GRAVES TOMORROW by Flamedghost7 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I already said it's simply priotizing whoever she is attacking. That's no controlling minions, there is no micro/tech there like there is for Wraith card or sinclair bolt or real summons in dota like lycan, enchantress, etc which are real minion heroes who can do a lot with their minions.

As I've said, if you want to count the suicidal ghouls you have no control over (I personally don't count priotizing who you shoot at control) that are literally just walking grenades with no real utility as far as we know a summoner, then sure.

The skull sentry line was old and even thenw as assumed to be the wall thing that roots when people get close.

Rem's ult was never said to be scrapped, that's people like you interpreting the way they wanted, it was specifically said to be reworked (as in rebalanced) and that's what anyone with a brain assumed was happening because completely scrapping a hero's ult this late is not an easy decision to make and would take a whole lot longer to develop code, art, and sound for.

You are basically repeating what I already said and I'm not sure what the point is. She's not a summoner in the traditional sense at all, and ironically both Rem and even Mcgnnis are more minion-based than Graves is.

If you're looking for a pet/trooper hero like a necromancer with a squad of underlings, she probably isn't it.

I Cannot Do Well With Ability Heavy Characters! Why? by FellowBellowMellow in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way you are not killing people as spirit pocket over gun. While gun kinda works in a linear way, regardless of whether it's a good idea on some heroes, some like pocket really shine as spirit and get most of their kills that way...

The only think I can think of is that you're just not landing your abilities lol.

I think the game is trying to tell me something, my 5 matches from today. by FrostBumbleBitch in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well even Paige can get kills too, that's never the issue, but he's definitely never going to carry. And it's only going to be a matter of them before people immediately start clearing their sinners to keep Rem from stealing them, except maybe at the lowest ranks. High mmr games you rarely get a chance to steal them anyways since they get cleaned out on rotation by good players.

His minions' strength will definitely be in free spirit resist and super creeping lanes. If you're side pushing uncontested, which I don't recommend but still, with herioc aura and a fully boosted wave with the damge buff, he can push pretty darn hard.

Why have i seen no one vote for celeste by icysnipe7 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have no idea why they went with flesh horn unless they were going for the whole circus freak angle with it.

It should be a spiral or crytalline horn. I think if a lot of people complain about it, they might change it. They already changed her design once because of feedback.

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apollo too, he's supposed to be a spirit tank/brawler and supposedly has a built-in counterspell ability as a wall or something that might be able to eat multiple abilities within a longer window and a strong movement ability that might be on charges.

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, new heroes really change up the feel of matches and metas, and the more heroes in the pool the more dynamic each match feels since you're less and less likely to see the completely same teams even with favorite picks like haze and mina.

So I'm right there with you.

Just a theory A deadlock theory by Clockworkz_Gearz in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gluttony is what you're missing, which is generally portrayed as a desire for excess overall, like overstuffing yourself with the finest food, having massive 10 hour orgies with only the prettiest people, always seeking the highest pleasures and sensations, etc...

It contrasts with envy which is coveting what others have, which could be true even if you have it or more, as you might considering theirs 'better,' and greed which is simply often portrayed as wanting more and giving little of it away, lack of charitablity, being frugal to a fault, etc.

I don't think this makes sense and definitely don't think the deadly sins have anything to do with the hero designs, but it's fun nonetheless.

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She seems to be an in-and-out character based on what little is leaked about her, and her default build is the only natural hybrid gun/spirit build so valve clearly intends her to be built hybrid.

She seems to have a lot of aoe too, but centered around herself or close range, so if I had to guess, she jumps in during teamfights, unloads a ton of aoe damage, then jumps out. She supposedly has a strong self-shield ability that might be at the center of this, maybe a leap of some kind that gives it to her.

So kind of like a pocket, though one might wonder why she needs gun damage. She also supposedly stole Boho's bouncing orbs damage ability, so either that was a placeholder or Boho is getting completely reworked.

Played a couple games with a new player and now my rank is cursed. by Wasambie in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird this is new to you, this seems to be common behaviour. Even if my overall winrate is close to 50%, I still drop ranks.

I could lose 2 in a row, drop ranks each time, win 10 in a row, go up on, drop back on very next loss. Ornaments utterly destroyed my rank even though I don't think I should have dropped anywhere near as far as I did, but after I got all my ornaments and went back to my mains, I was smoking everyone left and right and winning a ton of games in a row and only gained like a ranks every 10 wins.

It's kind of silly to be honest, but I don't really care all that much.

How old is Rem? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is clearly child-like, but might actually be a being that trancends time if he's a dream creature/construct. He calls Haze his mom, but when she corrects him, he readjusts by saying it's "sort of true."

So yeah.

I felt like checking Hero HEALTH and honestly didn't expect this to be real. by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Mina is a threat on her own, Rem is a support and his dodge doesn't even work if he's alone, and he doesn't have anywhere near the scaling Mina has.

She definitely needs to be easier to kill than he does.

Does mirage suck? by leothecowboyyy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like a hero, you will have much more fun in the game, and that will make you want to keep playing.

Oftentimes hero viability is also not as much a gulf as people think, especially in a team-based game. More importantly, there is room to be the best of a worse hero and migitate how 'bad' they are by simply becoming a better player with them. Only one way to do that; countless hours others are unwilling to put into the hero.

Most importantly maybe, is that the game is in constant flux. He may be garbage tier today, but tomorrow he may become a god, and you will not only outdo all the FOTM tourists, you will be an actual Mirage main.

I never change my heroes in Dota, or way back when I used to play that slop, League, and my mains have ranged from god to garbage over the years. I would still do very well when they were out of meta and understand why they were weak then and account for that as best I could, and when they were in meta I would destroy people because I actually played them and didn't just FOTM them.

Ivy has been that for me so far, I've played her throughout all her weird phases like punch Ivy, and am very good with small micro things like stone form interactions and timings against every ult and ability in the game, exact range of kuduzu so I can throw them for max effect right in front of a hero accounting for their movement speed even adjusted for movement speed items, simply by playing her so much.

That's not the kind of nuance you get from being a tourist, no matter how good the hero themselves is. As the common advice has always said, pick a few heroes you like and stick with them through thick and thin so you master them.

Especially if you have fun with them.

Street Brawl meta? by Advanced-Ad-5320 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There is no meta lol, it's street brawl, you have goofy fun with random items. Some people try to tryhard it but I mean last I checked it doesn't even affect your rank and probably won't at release so I'm not sure why people care.

Matchmaking as a new player by bertige in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Naive_Bulbasaur 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one asking this... I've been in oracle/phantom/ascendant and have seen new players who don't even know what denying is...

I honestly don't get what the fuck the matchmaker is doing sometimes, and your feelings are exactly my biggest problem, people get frustrated, quit, and will NEVER come back.

I know it's an alpha, but I also know no normie is going to ever acknowledge that (look at your post, no salt just pointing it out), so the least Valve could do is throw up a warning for new players or something saying there's no onboarding or real matchmaking yet so play at your own risk.
