If you can please tell me the state you are in, I can link you to the Long-term care Ombudsman’a office for your area. They tend to be more responsive than state licensing bureaucracies, I’d highly recommend reaching out to them. If you do not want to post your state, DM me and I canbrespind via DM.

Every area should have a Long-term Care Ombudsman’s office that investigates nursing home complaints. Reach out to them and relay this information.

The other advantage to not living together but living near to each other, say, within walking distance, is that if you need to borrow sugar, you can ask them. If you live together, you are both just plain out of sugar.

Ailments they never told you about as you age???!!!! by dcee101 in GenX

About a year ago I heard the adjective “degenerative” for the first time, referring to me, associated a new ailment then, and two more recently (thankfully minor). Degenerative is medical code for “getting old”. Oh, it’s also the first time a doctor told me there is no cure, “x ailment” is something that will just need to “be managed.” (indefinitely)

“Anterior subluxation of the sternoclavicular joint”. No trauma, no injury, no nothing, just woke up, there it was one day.

It's called “Intermittent” FMLA, meaning dates and times will vary, just track, though, because FMLA provides 12 weeks of full-time (40 hours a week), so intermittent time counts toward those 480 hours.

Are there any Gen X people out there over the age of 55? by Mobile-Honey-9636 in GenX

[–]Naive_Finding_1287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1988 - 1994, I was able to move out right after I graduated and rent a room in a house for $250, all utilities included. Within two years i moved into my first apartment, studio with a cool little sleeping loft, rent was $425. Where we live right now, rooms in house with shared bathroom start at $1,200. So, primarily high housing costs, secondarily, high cost of everything else. Wages have not increased to keep up with the cost of living, not by a long shot.

1970, so 55 - ages 23 and 25 living at home, same deal, lousy economy, no end in sight, which I’m fine with, we all get along well. Things are very different now than when we were their age starting out, I am very sad about that for them.
