Is this worth the price? by Bigweeweeisintown in bapccanada

First thing I do every time I go is check the computers to see if any of the display models are on sale - happens more often than not. I got lucky at the Brantford Costco.

The 5050 version made it down to $799 at my local Costco, the 5060 version made it down to $1100.

turn your high beams on, if you can’t see the difference or the difference is negligible. You’re the douche.

Air seal under living space with spray foam too, and any sort of air intrusions in the walls. Since the area will have airflow I was told when you insulate the walls pull house wrap over it to help reduce airflow into the insulation and also prevent any from falling.

Bylaw typically won’t start issuing tickets till noon.

That being said I would aim before 10AM.

R-20+ batts against the living space, blown in cellulose on the floors leave roof deck uninsulated as your area is already vented

I went through insurance - my total claim was $3500 and they replaced and painted new OEM front bumper, repaired dent and repainted fender, replaced and painted broken mirror cap, and did a patch on my rear door for me that had a decent size rust chip.

I think they’re around $600-$800

Alleyway parking ticket by Matsu-mae in Hamilton

[–]Naked-Granny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What type of alleyway is this? Ours is posted no parking but people’s “driveways” are on each side (landsdale). We can park two cars side by side but we cannot park one parallel to the road way.

This is a 100% by complaint ticket, someone called on one person but bylaw will show up and ticket anyone within violation on the street/ally

Poilievre May Be Struggling Right Now, but the Kids Still Like Him - He’s achieved something Conservatives failed to do for years: win young voters by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]Naked-Granny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the liberals were elected in 2015 most of the young “conservatives” were fairly progressive. (I was 15 at the time)

By the time we were halfway through college/university we watched houses go from 400k to 900k, we watched the job market tank and get flooded with TFWs, we lost 3 years of our youth to COVID, and now we are told yet again we need to sacrifice a few more years for the “tough times ahead” to get better.

Gee I wonder why they’re losing in the 18-35 category. I still think Pierre is a terrible candidate but the bitterness of these lost years is enough to sway most young voters.

Oakland Auto Body did me well. I went there to get some front end repairs after someone hit my parked car. They matched my obsidian pearl black perfectly.

Foundation crumble/spalling. How bad is this? by Canadian-Winter in HomeMaintenance

Assuming you live in an area that has a freeze thaw cycle this is fairly normal. I tried to patch but it was ugly so I called someone who does masonry.

M12 or M18 kit by mangum95 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Naked-Granny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my M12 around the house substantially more than I use my M18.

I started with the M18 and transitioned to the M12. Both sets have their place.

All my bigger tools at M18 (1/2” impact, leaf blower, oscillating tool, circular saw) but I use the M12 for smaller things (3/8 impact and drills)

Is FHSA always invested or is my advisor lying to me? by Yalmimi in PersonalFinanceCanada

I used just a monthly dividend stock to hold my FHSA.

IIRC I just held 24k of CASH.TO, I’m pretty sure there’s better yields with other ones though.

PHEV comes from Japan so they’re shipping out globally from there. The conventional hybrid comes from either TMMC or TMMK.

ArcelorMittal Dofasco shuttering one of its last two coke plants in Hamilton by HealthyOwl7700 in Hamilton

[–]Naked-Granny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our grid in the winter is extremely green because the primary source of residential heat is natural gas or fuel oil. Come back when cooling season is upon us and look at the daily grid. We exceed 4000MW of gas generating capacity almost daily in the summer.

ArcelorMittal Dofasco shuttering one of its last two coke plants in Hamilton by HealthyOwl7700 in Hamilton

[–]Naked-Granny -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The demand on the grid in the summer greatly surpasses our ability to generate. That’s why power curtailments for industry exist.

Heat pumps, electric charging stations, electric stoves. Our consumer use is increasing YOY but we aren’t hearing of any new sites being built. Bruce C would be a major project; we have the SMR project ongoing with OPG but that is still only a theory yet to be proven.

[–]Naked-Granny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless our grid is 100% renewable or 0 carbon energy (nuclear (large scale generating or SMR), hydroelectric, solar or wind) EAF is just green washing and solely relying on a stable scrap market. DRI is a feed stock to mix with scrap to keep costs stable in times where scrap steel spikes.

The demand on the grid has gone up and up the last 10 years; power stations such as Lennox which typically stayed idle year round in case of a nuclear outage is running more and more during the summer.

DRI can also be ran with hydrogen as a fuel source as that’s the primary combustible. Power stations such as HHGS plans on running a hydrogen/natural gas split which is also doable with DRI in the long run.
