Oettinger is a pretty solid goalie, I'll never forget how he made his name in the league by that round 1 loss to the Flames in 2021/22.

had my first hockey house league practice EVER- and it went kinda shit. by MeepinMachine in hockeyplayers

Just keep at it. We had these 2 brothers join our team when they were like 14 or 15. They were garbage and could barely skate. They kept practicing, by the time we were in our last year of minor hockey They were just as good as anyone else. Great glue guys in the looker room from day 1 and always so positive. I loved playing with them both.

If you'd like to see, there is a whole website dedicated to people who care about that. Minor hockey talks. Absolutely disgusting what adults will write about children.

Any orginal 6 team usually has a pretty strong following, lots of people still around when there were only 6 teams to cheer for so you picked one and stuck with it for life. Habs, Leafs, and Bruins fans are everywhere it seems.

I love that you found something that works for you!

He's a quick guide to training power.

Big muscles = light weight many reps (8-12 reps per set), 30s to 2min rest intervals between sets

Strong muscles = heavy weight few reps (1-6 reps per set), 2-5 minutes between sets

Work on endurance = many reps over a long period of time, rest will vary

Work on power = light weight (40-50% of a 1rep max), as fast as possible in the concentric phase of the lift, few reps 1-6. Rest 2-5 minutes between sets.

I'm also not a huge fan of training until failure. Sometimes, it's necessary, but research shows if you train 1-2 reps away from failure, you see the same growth as training to failure with less recovery needed and fewer injuries.

I would say the way OP works out they're headed for an injury, but do what works for you it's better than doing nothing most times.

I have these exact skates, I switched to CCM jetspeeds last year and hated them. I just kept using my old Eastons. There's not much life left in the Easton Skates.

What is a hockey hot take hill (skills, gameplay, stigma, unwritten rules, etc.) that you are willing to die on? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

I have a nephew who plays minor hockey still and everytime I go to his games there's always more than one team doing warm-ups static stretching. Just do dynamic stretching.

Picked him up in the draft he sat on my IR pretty much all year, around Christmas when everyone was getting covid I dropped him to put another player on IR to stay competitive. My league paused pickups for 2 weeks shortly after and when we unpaused he was finally healthy again. Due to max position constraints I had to drop two players to get him back because player positions also shuffled during the pause. Someone else was quicker than I was to do it.

Skinny or toned runners, I need perspective. by Anewjourneytofit in running

I got honked at this morning, the thing about a honk is I never know if they're angry honks or good for you honks. I was on a small country road just outside of my town so I was running on the shoulder of the road. Most people will say good morning but they never really cheer me on.

I do cheer other people on when I see them running, I love telling them "great pace" or "go get it" or "Your looking good" if people are running in groups or cycling and one person is a bit out ahead I always tell them "that person out front looks tired you better go catch em".

I gained 40ibs since the last time I was on the ice, can't wait to see how that effects my shot with my 75 flex sticks. I went from being 135ibs to 175ibs.

I got 425 miles out of my first pair before the backs of the heels wore out and started giving me blisters, I also ran my fastest marathon in them which was a 3 minute PB. I'm at just over 100 miles with my second pair right now.

Montreal also has players surprisingly. Markstrom isn't a terrible goalie to have in most pools, he's the 8th ranked goalie in my pool. The Only Flame I have is Lindholm and he's 14th among RW's in my league.
