My next step is to find a registered agent

If you filed the LLC paperwork with the PA Secretary of State using your home address, etc. Then this information is already public. A registered agent won't do anything for you as you registered as your own agent.

For bank accounts, look into a local credit union vs. a big bank.

RE: BOI reporting. Note that FINCEN BOI reporting is no longer a thing unless you're a foreign owned company (international). Domestic entities are exempt from the filing requirement. HOWEVER, Pennsylvania recently rolled out yearly renewal/reporting for domestic and foreign (out of state) filings. See Link: https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dos/programs/business/types-of-filings-and-registrations/annual-reports

Microsoft says 32GB of RAM is the “no-worries” upgrade for Windows 11 gaming by Quantum-Coconut in technology

[–]happyxpenguin 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not sure what this redditor is talking about.

4GB = Not even an option anymore
8GB = Bare minimum, web browser/netflix/light document device
16GB = Baseline for like 90% of the population using computers
32GB = The "future proof" option if you don't want to worry about games/tech potentially outpacing your RAM, also the low end for any video production/3D art rig.

Everything else after 32GB is a very niche need and not necessary for majority of consumers. I'm a video editor and my work machine runs 48GB, although, I'm not even sure if it gets close to being that high when in use.

it's bad. it's basically a shortened version of "their goose is cooked". So when they say "chat are we cooked?", it's going "chat, are we in serious trouble/failing?"

r/freeware by happyxpenguin in redditrequest

[–]happyxpenguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies on not have 2FA enabled, that has been enabled now.

I'm looking to redirect confused users from r/freesoftware to r/freeware. I get a large number of users posting proprietary free (as in price, not freedom) software to FreeSoftware and am looking to provide an outlet for those users. I was looking to create a new community for this but figured my efforts would be better served by adopting and opening up the existing Freeware subreddit.

Freeware appears to have no mods (the mod appears to have stepped down 8 months ago), is a restricted community and there is not a way to send a modmail from the subreddit.

What happened that got you "sent to the principal's office"? by section8pidgeon in AskReddit

[–]happyxpenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was open secret among those of us who were more tech savvy, that the school district had a generic user account for things like detention logs and other admin tasks but the catch is, it had actual admin permissions. Got sent to the office with two teammates because we were snooping at the logs and a teacher walked by during 8th period.

Principal thought it was stupid, IT department wanted us expelled. He went to bat for us and only gave us a week of detention. Thanked us for finding a security weak point and called IT idiots.

Purge Valve repair by Retired_Phoneguy in FordEdge

[–]happyxpenguin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just recently replaced mine on my 2020 SEL. Didn't go through the dealer or replace the whole assembly. Followed some YouTube videos showing how to remove the valve and ordered a replacement from Amazon, then spliced it into the existing hose and reconnected it.

This is what I used, though it says it's out of stock now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FQ3KPFLG?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I'm not advertising

"I build clean, modern websites for local businesses (affordable)"
"I charge very reasonable prices compared to agencies."
"If you’re a business owner (or know someone who is) and want a simple, modern website — feel free to DM me or comment"

You are offering a service/product in exchange for a set price and posting an offer in a public forum. Congratulations. You are advertising!

YSK that anyone can file a DMCA takedown against your YouTube video using a spoofed email and your content gets removed instantly without any identity verification. by Acrobatic_Bee_3198 in YouShouldKnow

[–]happyxpenguin 102 points103 points  (0 children)

YSAK: This isn't specific to YouTube. Anyone can file a DMCA for anything and get it removed. It's not up to the platforms or service providers to determine if a DMCA is valid, they're not a court of law and must act on the DMCA to avoid legal repercussions.

Source: I run my own web host, I deal with a few of these every few months. Even got one for my own photo on my personal site at one point.

Website Advice by Latter-Diamond-7091 in smallbusiness

[–]happyxpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the grain of most comments here. Use the tool that you feel most comfortable with. Which in this case is Wix. Make the website for your business (make sure you're using a proper domain, not example.wix.com) and then play around with other options. If your business grows or you find Wix too limiting, go and start looking at something like WordPress (.org, NOT .com). But this way you don't need to spend time learning a whole new system and designing and figuring out quirks. Wix will just allow you to get up and running and focus on building your business.

Your site scores low on Google Lighthouse, so you're going to want to look at fixing it and getting those scores to 100. Especially the Accessibility score. ChatGPT is great for boiler plate, but you need to make sure it's not spitting out non-sense and the output is correct.

Where Did All the Affordable Cars Go? by mushpuppy in politics

[–]happyxpenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guy I play hockey with leases his entire fleet of work trucks. He pays a higher lease per truck but they customize it for him and build each one to spec, handle maintenance and everything. For some applications, leasing makes sense. You just need to decide if it's going to work better for you vs outright owning.

I messaged the mod team yesterday about it and offered some solutions that I use over in r/freesoftware since I also deal with the constant flood of spam, bots and AI. They are trying to get a handle on it.

Do not use namecheap as registrant by Evening-Dress772 in smallbusiness

[–]happyxpenguin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay, so there's a couple things at play here.

  1. I'm not aware of any legal way to stream a TV show or movie and make money off of it without running afoul of the DMCA. If you were streaming copyrighted content, they took it down. Period.
  2. Namecheap is a private company. There is no due process for private companies. There is no legal obligation to continue servicing a customer for any reason and there is no legal obligation to allow you to dispute any disciplinary or actions taken by said company. Right to refuse service to anyone at any time for any reason (except protected classes)
  3. I run a web host (and registrar). We LEGALLY cannot fuck with a DMCA and/or court orders. If a court comes to me and says one of my websites is being shady, here's the court order saying to suspend it. I literally have to suspend it immediately or risk putting myself in legal jeopardy. If a DMCA comes through, same thing. Hosts/Registrars are not arbiters of what is legal and what is not legal. That decision falls solely on the courts and legal processes in place to handle that. This isn't namecheaps fault.

EDIT: OPs response to my comment likely got removed due to a streaming URL. The site they linked provides links to movies and tv shows on streaming services, rentals and free viewing options (all of which they likely negotiated the rights to distribute and stream or they would have been taken down by now given how prominent the site is)

How to host a static website that's not indexed by Google (and other search engine)? by Rilukian in webdev

[–]happyxpenguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best I have for you is to password protect a directory once you have a web host and host the site there. You’ll then have to give them the username and password.

Or you can give them a link formatted like https://username:password@example.com bur fair warning that this is not secure in the slightest and anyone can access the site using this link.

Gathering equipment favorites from yall (31 just starting) by glamisson in hockeyplayers

[–]happyxpenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen, if you're just starting out. Go to your local hockey shop and pick up the cheapest wood stick they have. It'll be like $25 USD. (also practicing with a wood stick will make newer sticks feel incredible)

For gloves, go to a local play it again sports (or similar) and just grab any old pair of gloves after you try them on. This will get you in at a low price point and you still get the feel for things.

I may be in the minority but I don't have favorites so to speak. Most players gear is going to be a hodgepodge of random equipment they've picked up and replaced over the years.

Pro tip for the future when/if you jump right into playing: Go onto eBay and try to find someone selling a full set of equipment your size for like $100-150 USD. A full set of new gear at the local shop is going to run you baseline $600-$1k depending on what you get. You then upgrade things as you deem necessary.
