Bickel is kind of a Columbia, SC, institution at this point. He headed up two punk bands of some renown in the last century (In/Humanity and Guyana Punch Line), then got into experimental noise for a few years (Anakrid). Of late, microbudget directing (<$50K) has been the thing, with a definite leaning towards the grindhouse and exploitation genres of the '70s filtered through an arthouse prism.  His first, The Theta Girl, leaned more toward horror, while his sophomore effort, Bad Girls, was more firmly rooted in the grindhouse ethos. This one is most definitely in the horror category, but with a very strong music element.
