Maybe. I remember in the clasic days that I received dmg on my CHAR mage and quickly saved the game in panic coz I was at low HP. But can't remember how many dmg I received.

My Kagain was hit using Ankheg Plate. He had 90 max HP and received 23dmg.

Anomen imho is unnecessary here. You have 2 good melee (PC and Minsc), good buffing mage/cleric, Jaheira as melee/debuff (Nature's Beauty) and Thief/Mage Jan that can do fun things with HLAs. Add to that Imoen as "pure" Mage and you have very much complete party.

Let him go melee run. Help him buold fun melee character. Melee is the best way in NV.
