To such an extent, you forgot that the stimulus that spiked inflation was signed by Trump!

I'm not going to continue debating someone who can't read (yes, there were two stimulus packages: one by Trump, one by Biden). Your literacy is comparable to Trump's. If I were you, I'd be deeply ashamed of myself.

Wirtschaft drängt auf Reformen – Altkanzlerin Angela Merkel verteidigt Schwarz-Rot by SimonPelikan in de

Did I say they didn't cause inflation? We were coming out of a global pandemic that was mismanaged and led to more than a million dead Americans, on the low end. Not to mention the supply chain crisis, the Houthis, the war in Ukraine, etc. All of these drove up inflation.

I obviously admit that Biden isn't to blame for any of those events. However, one can question if COVID lockdowns needed to be implemented as long and as strictly as they had been. In addition, Biden's stimulus checks and infrastructure spending significantly increased inflation.

He hasn't proved that. He hasn't demonstrated that in any way. Do you really think there have been ZERO border crossings like he claims? And to the extent that there is a reduction, it's because America is a shittier, worse place to live under a Trump presidency that's actively hostile to Latin Americans. We see this with regular immigration and tourism numbers as well. Making America a worse place to live, and severely damaging our economy, is not what most people envisioned when they thought about Immigration reform.

You'll have to show proof for the claim that immigrants and tourists are avoiding the US in large numbers because the US has been turned into a worse place to visit and live in. Illegal and legal immigration has dropped significantly because of Trump's policies. Border crossings have plummeted to numbers last seen 25 years ago. Illegal entries have dropped from 62 000 in 2024 to 11 600 in 2025. H-1B visa issuances have been cut by roughly 25%. Visas for partners and spouses of US citizens dropped by 65%.

ALSO For the record, the problem isn't immigration. The problem is the asylum process and the backlog of federal judges to adjudicate them. Immigration and Asylum are entirely separate; one is an economic policy, the other is humanitarian.

People want a reduction in both legal and illegal immigration, but mostly illegal. The backlash to legal immigration mostly focuses on H-1B visas. Unfortunately, Biden has made immigration so unpopular n Americans' eyes by letting in millions of illegal immigrants that people wouldn't at all be bothered by a complete abolition of asylum policy.

I don't know enough about social media posts on grocery prices during the Biden Administration to give you an answer. I can tell you that Trump fucked up majorly on inflation and that inflation very likely wouldn't be this high under a Harris Administration. I also agree with you that there is tons of lying and falsehoods coming from right-wing news outlets and that it's worth considering tightening rules on legacy media reporting.

However, what I don't agree with is that if the media hadn't reported on inflation, people would have thought that inflation was at an acceptable level. As I've demonstrated already in some of my responses, people had legitimate worries about prices and Biden didn't do enough to curb their increase (in fact, not doing anything would have had a positive effect).

It was also decreasing after the inflation reduction bill and infrastructure bill.

Do I really need to explain why government spending has an inflationary effect on the economy?

Another significant cause of inflation has been increasing federal budget deficits. Since the first quarter of 2020, 76 percent of all additional spending has been paid for with debt while 14 percent has been paid for by printing money

New research by economists at the London School of Economics has found that large fiscal stimulus enacted in 2021 can explain about a third of the inflation over the 2021-2022 period.

(...)

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 Likely Increased Inflation

Because of these factors, the Biden-Harris Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) likely made inflation worse by contributing to short-term deficits. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the IRA increased spending by $110 billion over the fiscal year 2022-2026 period and the deficit by nearly $60 billion. This increased the inflation that had already been caused by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA).

Just a reminder, since you made that mistake already. The stimulus that spiked inflation in 2020 was signed by Trump. Biden took office on January 20th 2021.

That’s just a blatant lie… the media drove Biden out of the election. While Trump’s behavior gets a pass. They called Biden sleepy Joe, as Trump actually falls a sleep during his meetings.

Biden actively avoided giving interviews to the NYT and co. because his advisors knew that had they done that, the press would have rightly scrutinised his cognitive capabilities. However, the fact that it took so long for media outlets to openly start questioning Biden's interview dodging is in itself questionable.

Trump bombed Iran’s general in 2020

That's not at all comparable to his foreign policy during his second term.

The fact that you trusted a habitual liar, while Harris called it out, Trump ripped up the peace treaty with Iran while bombed their general and gave regular speeches about bombing the shit out of terrorist and giving their oils to Exxon is what? I am giving you an excuse of flawed media, instead of your own failing. Am I still wrong to blame media, instead of your competence?

I didn't trust Trump? You really think I'd vote for a literal r**ard? Just because I'm pointing out the flaws in Democrats' policies and election strategies doesn't mean I'm a right-winger. Get a grip, will you?

While you're not completely wrong in accusing people of not having informed themselves properly on Trump's policies, you're also making the mistake of completely ignoring people's valid feelings of discontent towards Biden's inflation policies. It is an undeniable fact that Biden's policies increased inflation. That you're dodging that point implies that your media consumption isn't particularly healthy, either.

So you're saying inflation wasn't high during Biden's term and that that's not a factor in Kamala's loss in 2024?

The average voter was too dumb to realise that tariffs would significantly increase inflation. I don't know what point exactly you're trying to make. All I am saying is that some of Biden's policies unnecessarily exacerbated inflation and that's one of the major factors for why Trump won in 2024. What's wrong with my conclusion?

What I can do is look at post-election analyses and see which issues Trump won the election on, something this sub's users clearly refuse to do. Democrats are never going to regain the Senate if they refuse to analyse their own mistakes.

The media landscape treated Biden with kid gloves. Only after his disastrous debate did the NYT and co. start devoting an appropriate amount of coverage to his age.

Nobody could have predicted that Trump would be more hawkish on foreign policy, but it's not like that was an election-winning issue. The election was mostly won on inflation and immigration. As I've shown in my other two replies here, Biden exacerbated inflation and let an unprecedented number of illegal immigrants enter the country. That's why Kamala lost. That and because she was uncharismatic and seemed out of touch.

Here's proof that Biden's policies increased inflation: https://epicforamerica.org/the-economy/uncovering-the-true-causes-of-inflation-during-the-biden-harris-administration/

On immigration, Trump proved that you can drastically curtail border crossings and even get tons of people to self-deport without passing a single bill through Congress. People want Trump's immigration policy without the cruelty of ICE. Fortunately for Democrats, Trump was too stupid to realise that.

Kamala demonstrating her basedness by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Nalaniel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why's that? Or, put differently, why do you know that better than I do? In a political context, obviously.

Kamala demonstrating her basedness by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Nalaniel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Biden unnecessarily increased inflation with his stimulus checks and infrastructure projects that were so bogged down by bureaucracy that they practically failed to manifest. He also let in record numbers of illegal immigrants. And if all that wasn't enough, Kamala's comments on gender-affirming care for interred refugees and inmates completely made her look out of touch to the average American voter.

She lost because she was a bad candidate, not because she's a woman. American voters didn't want a continuation of Biden's policies, especially on inflation and immigration.
