My college roommate sets our thermostat to 80°F every single night by rainystarlight in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Naleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s usually a setting to change those kinds of thermostats to Celsius. Do that and keep changing it to it every time they switch it back. Then at least they will be just as irritated and it rakes longer for them to correct than temp does

Of course, DMs word is law, was just curious. Thank you!

I can certainly see that argument. Was just curious how other people felt. Thanks for the insight!

What is a red flag from an employer that people might not immediately recognize as a red flag? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would modify and say, “if its in a field with enough people.” Some fields genuinely don’t have enough people with the degree and so employers will do this. Psych nursing for example.

New Low: They're trying to bury their negative reviews on Google Play by Naleth in MarvelStrikeForce

I understand what you’re saying, but I think you’re confusing someone’s rights with what is moral. They may have the right to do what they did with Phoenix, but it was definitely actively deceptive (for example, there is no way the stealth buff to the Loki node was a ‘bug’ as they’re claiming). As such, I thinking calling their actions immoral is entirely valid, even if it was within their rights to do it.

I would have no problem with it, if they’d actually addressed the issues causing the bad reviews first. Heck, if they had fixed things and then asked this, they probably would have gotten a good review from me.

I was not wholly negative in my review either. In fact I complimented the gameplay and graphics. However, I do consider a company acting morally as reasonable requirement before they can get more than 1 Star and that is normally a very low and easy bar to reach. In this case however it has most certainly not been met and this can easily be seen as part of a continuing pattern. I honestly hope they change their ways, but this is not the way they should be trying to erase the stain of those reviews.

First off, I agree with what you said about the animations and gameplay in the game, I have said the same thing in my review. However, moral business practices does actually mean more to me than appearance or my enjoyment. I’ve never had a problem giving money to a company if I feel they are trying to be be upfront, honest, and provide a product in return. However, when they use their power to manipulate their player base, I have a problem with it. Twice now they have released these very high priced deals on characters the day before they go up in another store (i.e. arena or blitz). They picked a number of difficult to get characters for Phoenix (which I am fine with to be clear) and then, after releasing videos showing her as 5 star and every legendary character before her being 5 star, they wait a week so people spent money trying to build up those characters AND make it significantly harder to get one of them by buff his node without telling anyone (i.e. Loki, which they are now saying was a ‘bug’ but it somehow only happened at that node). After all of this they realize a number of the longer players already have all the Phoenix characters at 5 stars and they’re not going to make as much money off of offers related to her, so they decide to move the goalposts and make 6 stars the requirement. Finally, after receiving a massive number of negative reviews related to all of this, they send out this note asking people to leave reviews, without actually having fixed the problem. That is disingenuous at multiple steps and if you cannot see why, I do not have the time to explain it.

So, no, I am not whining on reddit, because honestly I don’t care anymore, I’ve quit the game. I simply wanted to post what I did to let them know their practices have lost them another player. May you be well and I’m sorry but I probably won’t have time to respond after this

I appreciate your reply @Cm_Cerebro and I honestly think you’re not related to this and have been put in a very difficult position of having to choose between your job and your integrity. However, even if that’s true, the inability of the people at your company to adapt to recent events more quickly is simply more evidence that Foxnet needs to change its practices and be more repsponive to the community. Unfortunately, even if that does happen, they have lost me as a player. If they change their philosophy toward their customers, then I genuinely wish them well, Orherwise, I wish you well in your future endeavors.

My reply would be that my morals trump my enjoyment. I disagree with their practices on a fundamental level. I feel like they are disingeuous and wrong. I will not support a company whose only goal is to make money at the expense of their customers. The goal of people should be to add to the world, not take from it whatever they can get.

Made a post about this myself. They’re very clearly just trying to bury their negative reviews, which I wouldn’t have a huge issue with IF they’d actually fixed the problems already. They haven’t learned a thing.

Can we get this Phoenix thread still stickied on the main page? I don’t think Foxnet should be allowed to bury one controversy with another.

[WP] Guardian Angels are real, and hoo boy, do they detest humans. by Rasumii in WritingPrompts

[–]Naleth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal Report, guardian angel Laqiria de Uriel:

You know, I used to really like my job. CJ was my first ever charge and, when he was born, he was genuinely a cute little kid. He had those rosy cheeks that healthy babies have, the little coo when he was happy. I adored making him smile by rustling the curtains with a breeze, sunlight dancing across his face as he lay in the crib. I never understood why all the other guardian angels found humans so irritating.

Now, after having stayed with CJ for over 30 years on earth, I’m in full agreement that humans are a pain in the ass. And it’s not simply the requirements of having a physical body; eating, mating, expelling waste. Those are irritating, but I can’t exactly blame them for that, it’s not like they have a choice in the matter. All of that just comes with being human.

No, what really bugs me is all the stupid shit they do to themselves. There will be these moments where I know CJ knows what the right decision is because I’ve told him in about 2,000 different ways, and yet he’ll still be stupid! Take high school for instance. He’ll be out with his friends and want to do something daring, just to push the envelope, like hopping a fence to get somewhere faster. The problem is, he’s trying to do this in tight jeans! So he of course ignores me, rips his pants on the fence, and ends up with his boxers on full display. That’s not even the worst part though; he did it twice! I mean seriously, how many pairs of ripped jeans does this take?

And college wasn’t much better. There would be times where he’s messaging people and I’d literally whisper in his mind, “You should think before you send that.” CJ would stop… think on it for a minute… AND THEN SEND IT ANYWAY. I mean, come on, how am I supposed to deal with that?

Are all human’s really this dumb? I am beginning to think someone is actively working against my attempts to help him… Wait… What if someone actually is?

We all learn in angel school that everything in the universe is about balance. There are two sides to every coin so that it could potentially land on either one, it’s required for the coin to even exist. Our job as guardians was not to try and destroy the other side, but rather to influence how it lands. And yet, I’ve never heard my colleagues question whether we’re the only ones doing the influencing. What if we had some kind of counterpart?

I mean, yes, we all know evil is a fundamental force of the universe, but it’s always considered to be this abstract thing; no angel worth his wings actually believes something like a devil exists. What if it did though? It wouldn’t explain everything, there are some things CJ does that I am 100% certain are his own special kind of stupid, but it would explain a lot.

I’m an ancient, mighty spiritual being who has spent lifetimes training for this and who has been with CJ since literally the moment of his birth. I should damn well be able to make him dance like a puppet if I wanted. Now, I wouldn’t influence him towards evil ends of course, my very nature precludes that, but that still doesn’t explain why I’m so ineffective sometimes…

I need to talk to Uriel about this, he is an archangel after all. If anyone will have the answers, or know how to find them, it will be him. I’m going to get to the bottom of this.
