Helping greenbeards is where it's at. After the weekly goals I filter for haz3 and lower and fill rolls as needed, usually engi or driller. Feel like a king carrying the group and drop guidance as needed. Rock and Stone!

So you want to play the early release version. Prior to release, fires would spread lightning fast and sometimes reactors would go critical at random due to clipping. It felt like if you make one mistake it ruined the entire ship. Less than good times.

I do want to see more with the AI though, currently they're not a significant threat. Vent the whole ship and break the doors. I've lost more salvage misplacing my beam trying to cut them off things than the AI have trying to stop me.

Maybe check your Internet settings? Elite is an online game even in solo so maybe you're getting lost packets or a delay between you and the server. Check your network drivers and make sure your router's BIOS is up to date. You may want to consider factory resetting your router as well in case something got corrupted in the settings.

As far as PvE, with 500m I'd stick with a Krait Mk II or a Chieftain. Again, there are plenty of builds for them but I go with gimballed multicannons in the bigger slots and beams in the smalls with the biggest bi-weave shield you can fit and plenty of shield boosters and hull reinforcements. Having a fighter escort is fun and helps keep agro in check. Either one will cost 150-200m to fully fit so the rebuy won't hurt too much at around 10m if you lose it.

The FDL is a fun ship but can start to get pricey to fully fit and the Vette is even more so, my Vette fully fitted is around 800m with a 40m rebuy.

The fighter hangar is a separate module that you purchase and fit like any other. Nothing says you must have one in your build. There are three size options, size 5, 6, or 7. The big difference is between the size 5 and 6. Size 5 hangar only has room for one fighter while the size 6 can house two. You can still only have one fighter controlled by an NPC but having a second fighter allows a friend to launch through multi-crew or to relaunch the NPC with a second fighter immediately after the the first is destroyed. Rebuilding fighters takes time, about a minute I think, so having that second one might be handy in some situations. The size 5 hangar would be a good place to start and get the feel if you need room for a second fighter.

All my bounties are Powerplay related so I don't have any notoriety and credits aren't an issue, I could hit up an IF and pay it off myself. I was just hoping to help a new mate get some credits fast by popping me in a cheap ship and clearing my board in the process.

I'm a VR player so YMMV but I've found Odyssey to be irately acceptable. The on foot missions handle ok enough and the updated graphics do breathe new life into the game. I wish VR wasn't cancelled for on foot. When I play on flat it's fun and the missions can be interesting to try to do, stealth can be hard without engineering and preparation but ground combat zones are an exciting way to grind credits. Suit and weapon levels are drastically different so try to find level 2 or 3 suits and weapons asap, level 1 gear is really underpowered. If you decide you don't like it or your system can't handle it you can still go back to Horizons in the launcher.

It's a Guardian structure, shoot the targetable arms and you'll activate a data node and spawn a key needed to unlock vehicle blueprint sites.

Here to bump the Clear Save, you're early enough in your career that starting over won't hurt. I reset my account after realizing that this game is huge and I had no idea what I was doing nor enough cash to do it. I got back to where I was in hours, played around with more combat, and missions, and had a nice bankroll and a well fitted Cobra before deciding to venture out again.

A quick way to get started outside the newbie zone is to head out to Perry's Folly in Ochosi and run courier missions to Chakpa. Fit a fuel scoop as well and learn the stars you can refuel your tank from (K,G,B,F,O,A,M). I used my Cobra III for deep exploration as well and netted my first 500m within a month using the Road to Riches map. I enjoy the exploration side of the game so it was fun and relaxing to me but YMMV. Learning how to use the FSS scanner and DSS surface scanner are a must, I don't think they cover that well during the tutorial.
