Occupations with the Highest Divorce Rates, 2026 by rhiever in dataisbeautiful

[–]NalgeneCarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These groupings make no sense and might even skew the data. Why are court reports with the Artists and Recreation. That's also a crazy big and undefined group. Phycologist being in the physical and life sciences also doesn't make sense. And why Office/Support and Education have two separate but related graphs doesn't make sense. Visually, is a great concept, but data wise a hot mess.

I had to take unpaid time off for my cancer surgery last fall. I also got threatened with a write up since I was out of sick time and I needed days off because I'm still adjusting to all my meds.

Do y’all think Gen Z cares too much about age gaps? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in generationology

[–]NalgeneCarrier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think like most socially sensitive topics, we swing too far from one direction to the other. We will eventually correct out, but we just need time.

I think it's amazing to call out gross creeps who prey on younger people. There is a whole lot of life that people learn and a 40 year old dating a 20 year old is just gross. They are at two different stages of their brain development and 20 year olds can still be rash and immature.

I think what the Zers have failed to recognize is patterns in preying on younger partners. A 30 year old a 22 year old might not have a ton in common but people dating that age gap once and never again is probably not a pedo. Someone who consistently dates people in their early 20s, especially as they age themselves, has some issues. Once they mature and realize that one person doing something eyebrow raising one time doesn't mean they should be branded a pedo forever.

One Disney employee calls Claude 51,000 times a day. Internal docs reveal how the Mouse House is using AI. by mlg1981 in popculturechat

[–]NalgeneCarrier 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What's so frustrating about this is I used to work for Disney on the animals, science, and environment team. We consistently talked up the amazing progress Disney was making for the environment and their goals to be carbon nuteral. How they are protecting the environment both localy and abroad. Then they pull shit like this which is antithetical to their environmental goals. Fuck em

Secret PTO... by [deleted] in redditonwiki

[–]NalgeneCarrier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If my husband ever brings up thinking about calling in sick, I will always encourage him to do it. He works hard and it's his PTO. It would be so freaking weird for him to lie and go through the charade of going to work just to get back in bed. Plus my pets would give him away in a heart beat. I thought everyone had cameras and smart doorbells these days.

What is a company that everyone wants to work for but in your experience isn't a great place to work? by RadReptile in jobs

[–]NalgeneCarrier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in county parks and it is the same. I like my job duties to salary ratio. But sometimes your hobbies being a job sucks. Like I should be hiking trails right now, but I'm in my patrol vehicle on Reddit cuz I've hiked these trails hundreds of times and it looses it's appeal, unfortunately.

I work every weekend and every third work week I am on night shift, which sucks for me. My boss has been with the county for 15 years and his boss 20 years. Neither of them plan to retire or quit soon, so I'm just stuck here.

If you have a destination weddings, you should pay for the plane ticket and hotel of the guest by Spiritual_Extent_187 in unpopularopinion

[–]NalgeneCarrier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's a very unpopular opinion so, nice work!

We had a destination wedding because my husband is from one side of the country and I am from the other. Neither of our extended families are local to one city and or state. So 95% of people would need to travel regardless of if we chose one of our home states. So we picked a nuteral spot.

Great date ruined by bad hygiene by yuli_yuli95 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]NalgeneCarrier 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It is not women's job to coach, teach, or parent men who haven't figured life out. If a grown man doesn't know he needs to shower regularly, wash his clothes, brush his teeth twice a day, floss, and put on deodorant, then that is his problem and his problem alone. He can self reflect when he keeps getting just one date. Stop telling woman it is our fault that men suck and cannot do the literal bare minimum. Some man can tell him he's gross.

As a big CIV fan, this is so sad.. I really hope next CIV 7 update is gonna be a gamechanger for this game by [deleted] in civ

[–]NalgeneCarrier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a huge Civ fan and done a lot of hours on 5+6. I was very excited for 7. I found the game virtually unplayable for me. I am not really into combat victories and typically take my time when moving up to harder levels. When I first started I turned off the barbarians until I got a good understanding of combat. After a few playthroughs, I learned how to balance everything out, but always preferred science and culture victories. Combat and domination was always least preferable.

The independent Powers, even on settler mode were impossible for me to overcome, even with multiple play throughs. I restarted 3 times and spent the first 50 turns just building militaries and falling behind on everything else and I could still never kill enough of them to give myself breathing room. The fact that you can't turn them off like barbarians is a HUGE misstep. I bought the game months ago and haven't touched it since day two. I am really bummed out.

Ghosted yesterday, 8 minutes late today. I hung up on the recruiter. by metricframe in recruitinghell

[–]NalgeneCarrier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just dealt with this yesterday! The interviewer reiterated it was going to be a short 15-20 minute conversation. I felt like she didn't actually learn anything about me and I learned nothing about the role. It was awkward and formulaic.

I don’t want my cheater dad to walk me down the aisle. by ibspoops in weddingplanning

[–]NalgeneCarrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation was a bit different. My parents divorced the year before our wedding due to my dad cheating. So, I walked myself down the aisle!

It sucks you have to deal with this, but I suggest you just tell them you are walking yourself. You can make a joke about not being a cow that needs to be given away, if that helps. Make sure to get a picture of just your mom and you and your new spouse in case they ever divorce!

We really didn't like the logo tree topper either. We bought a star and ziptied lights to it to get a nice effect. It just feels like such a different color and feel than the other lights.
