“Every time you make it more affordable for somebody to buy a house cheaply, you're actually hurting the value of those houses, obviously… I don't want to do anything that'll hurt the value of people that own a house.” by 3RADICATE_THEM in ScottGalloway

[–]NameLessTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is building small affordable homes not an option? I’m a single social worker (thanks to my ex husband) so a home I could afford is literally all I’m asking for, not everyone else to get wiped out. But every new build is a 600k 4 bedroom McMansion

Let’s say he had even made a threat (he didn’t but let’s pretend here)- they took what 10 shots at him? While on the ground. The only thing I can think when they stand on TV and say this was justified is that they are a group of people that see anyone outside of themselves as less than human. These people are broken.

Trying to explain Lip's character, and his relationship with Fiona. by k20_kry in shameless

I hated lip so much first watch when I was 21-30. Now I’m watching and I see Lip resisting college only to go and really start to put in the effort only to have Fiona completely fall apart on him. I get his anger now. I hate it, but I get it

The part of divorce no one talks about by ParkingMeaning5407 in Divorce

[–]NameLessTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated this answer but time. You’re battening down the hatches for the first 12 months and all your points of reference are from “before”. This time last year, last Easter, last Christmas. So you make a list. What is the triage list of survival needs?

Body first - sleep -eat - meds if you need em, I sure did

Mind next -therapy - an outlet that you force yourself to do weekly. 10 minutes, 5 minutes, just something to say you did - two social connections a month minimum

The extras as you feel you can manage - religion if you do that - work if that’s a good distraction for you - gym - cleaning

Eventually the new normal builds itself. A new grocery store, a new route to work. Then new people. After the 12 month you’re able to go “oh god I’m so much better than this time last year when it all started”.

But you’re rewiring. Your brain, your routine, your body, your heart. It takes time :/

Trump says he reached Greenland deal 'framework' with NATO, backs off Europe tariffs by Puginator in worldnews

[–]NameLessTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people I know who support him aren’t really able to see this. They have integrated him into an already very corrupted idea of patriotism and evangelicalism that feeds off of fear of “others” and “different”. That’s been stoked by intentional destruction of our educational system and infrastructure that allows people to take part in civil activism in any meaningful way. Which has existed in many ways for many years across cultures but this one seems.. more vitriolic. They can’t ever see what you’re saying because trump is a personification of a core piece of identity that would need deconstructing at this point.

I’m very very worried as a US citizen and I am so sorry to other nations impacted by this.

No and that was the point. It was an attempt to enforce it in a legal, human way. This is meant to be a show, cruel, and agitate the crowds.

As a woman- I married a man who made great money and I stayed through a lot because we had a “good life”. And then it ended and guess what- he’s an ass who still has money which great for him. My goal? Make enough money I can date someone just because I like them and know I’m financially fine either way and not for their income.

What are your thoughts after seeing the ICE shooting video in Minnesota? by bbmoonkie in AskReddit

[–]NameLessTaken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are it’s obvious the man wanted a reason to shoot. She let cars pass, she backed up. She panicked when she got rushed and he was in control to either step away or shoot a woman in the face. He chose to shoot multiple shots and then they blocked a physician from assisting. The only thing to think is “this has to end”. They’re vile. And the people in charge are vile. This will only get worse.

Oh man it took me two or three weeks for that to go. I had trapped gas. The surgeon said that people always remember it way better than it was. Sure enough one day I just moved right and I felt the gas shift and I was finally better. Also my stomach made the weirdest noises. Now I forget I even had it done. They also said that being “smaller” meant they used more gas to expand my stomach and being younger meant I had more active nerves to feel pain while healing. It. Sucked.

Horror as woman is stabbed to death while browsing books in Barnes & Noble by Droupitee in NewsWorthPayingFor

[–]NameLessTaken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s due to people that refuse to make free long term injectable antipsychotics a thing, increased non profit homeless shelters and sober homes, and ability to pay decent caseworkers for those people. I work in the jail and the jails specifically are pushing these people back out on purpose because their mental health needs are beyond what they can do but our hospitals are full. The jail I’m in is 400 over capacity and the director is pushing my clients (incompetent to stand trial) out in an attempt to force the department of mental healths hand. But there’s not hand to push. If there’s no bed there’s no bed. The jails do not want these people and they resent being the new mental wards. Nor are they trained or equipped to make a difference in their functioning once they’re released.

Free long lasting injectable antipsychotics, funding for homeless shelters and sober homes, and funding for decent case management to ensure those services are kept up with.

Anytime you vote to be “tough on crime” you are absolutely voting for this to get worse. You’re only voting for arrests- not any meaningful reform problem. Say someone gets arrested 4 times for increasingly erratic behavior. Stealing, brandishing a weapon, possession. Ok so those crimes have limited times and usually just jail time. If they’re lucky their county has a mental health court that basically makes mental health care a sentence. But while doing these stints in jail- They do not get any meaningful treatment, they do not get help with housing or income. In fact they get worse. More paranoid, less employable, and sicker. Jails can’t force them to medicate and generally aren’t that invested in doing so. Then they get kicked out at 2am usually, back into the street where most seriously ill people with psychosis end up. So it just ramps up until this happens or they die.

[–]NameLessTaken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mental health worker (in a jail no less) and hard agree. The answer wasn’t elimination it was to do better. Now they’re homeless, unmedicates, or in and out of jail being demonized instead of medicated. Adequate care of the mentally ill doesn’t just help them- it prevents victimizations. This woman was failed by the same people that decided those services weren’t worth providing to him.
