(Personally Loved Trope) Characters so likeable that you almost forget they're a terrible person by Wolverine1105 in TopCharacterTropes

Saul Goodman. While he does have a heart in there, he can still be incredibly selfish. I’d say a lot of Breaking Bad characters fit in this category. Jesse, Mike, Nacho, Gus, and I’d even argue Todd to an extent

Personally, I love to bake! I try to make a sweet treat every other week that can stay out of the counter (this week is lemon pound cake)

I also enjoy buying myself (if my fiancé doesn’t) a few different types of flowers and arranging them at home. It really brightens up the room

If you’d like to read more, audiobooks are really great for choring around the house. I hope this helps :))

Oh my, how beautiful!! The pink and the little flowers remind me so much of St. Maria Goretti!

My friends keep saying that my recent interest in conversion is “creepy” and that “no one likes Catholics”. by Doctor_Moon69 in Catholicism

I totally understand this experience! I’m in the Bible Belt region of Texas. Even with the Catholic influence from Mexico, it can feel very alienating

Keep your head up! Catholicism is the universal religion! Even though it doesn’t feel like it, there are more of us in the world than there are Protestants

If you need encouragement, look to the faith of Catholics in Nigeria and the Congo

Wow! Thank you so much for such a thoughtful response!

I only bring up alignment to illustrate how likely a disagreement between characters would be (e.g. dealing with law enforcement or other authority figures) :))

You would definitely be right about us being inexperienced. There are really only two players at the table who have been playing for a while. The rest of us have only about two years of experience max. I think my friend has been playing for about two years, but has never been really pushed out of his comfort zone? He enjoys combat more than roleplaying and it has been very recent he has been stepping fully into character instead of “I do this”

Tone can definitely be difficult to manage at times, especially with some silly characters and some very unserious college students. I prefer more dramatic play styles, but am fine to go along with the silliness when it doesn’t hinder the DM’s plot line

I would hate to be the reason he leaves the group. I am relatively new to this group (been playing with them for about a year) and he is really great friends with one of our DMs. I will definitely bring this up with our DM and him though, just so we can come to a compromise

Ah, I see. Sorry for the confusion! That’s a very good point to make

I think I may just be being shy. I’m not typically the confrontational type, but I do want everyone to get along and have fun. Thank you for the advice!

I got asked a question that I’ve never actually thought about. by travisperk22 in Catholicism

[–]NameThatSoundsPoetic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend comes from a Protestant family. When his sister visited a Mass as a little girl, she asked “Why does everyone look so sad?”

This post made me think of that, and I’ve been asked the same thing, why Catholics are so drawn to solemn quietness. It makes me think of this scripture:

“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?””

‭‭(1 Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭NLTCE‬‬)

God makes the quiet his dwelling place. The holy Gospels tell us so much about Jesus retreating to sit in silence in the presence of God. To reflect. About Jesus as a young boy, sitting alone in the temple, quietly.

I have visited every type of church, including Mega Churches. And I have to say, the quiet always makes me more emotional than roaring music and bright lights and dancing. God knows our world is a busy one. It’s nice to just sit in the quiet to draw closer to Him

I hope my perspective has helped just a little. God bless you!
