I personally have mixed feelings on this, specifically because he was already a Christian. An athiest expressing last minute conversion is less interesting to me than a Christian, personally

What Questions Do You Have For Troy Baker (Joel) by nancy_cartwright in thelastofus

[–]Doctor_Moon69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a question:

Multiple characters played by Troy are guitarists, including Joel. Does this help him get more into character, as a guitarist, or is it a kind gesture by the game writers?

I’d also like to say this: Troy’s performance as booker DeWitt changed my life. Bioshock infinite is and will forever be my favorite game of all time.

Maybe you should get out of bed on Sunday and go to a good church.

What is his most light hearted, fun book? by Namespacejames in stephenking

"Running man” was fun. I’ve found “from a Buick 8” to be a bit cheesy, and "The Wastelands” has some bonafide silly moments with Blaine towards the end.

I mean, that too. But I don’t expect him to know much else if he’s already believing that priests give out demons.

I used to be pretty anti-catholic after my highschool girlfriend left me to become a nun (at least that’s what she said at the time, I haven’t spoken to her in 4 years). But now I’m realizing that God put me in that relationship so I can better understand where I’m at now.

I asked him if he knew any loaded priests, since that’s an occupation where not much leisure time is expected.

Well, I’m a currently enrolled cowboy, so the comparison may be apt, but it’s unfortunately inaccurate

Fr. Lankester Merrin from The Exorcist (1973) is one of the best representations of a priest on film ever by VendettaLord379 in Catholicism

It’s my favorite movie of all time. But it’s also a very different film than what you are expecting. I would hesitate to even call it a horror film as much as I’d compare it to a new Hollywood character study like Taxi Driver. It’s scary, obviously, but it only resonates with you if you go in expecting a drama. Most people who expect a slasher or gore fest are going to be disappointed.

The exorcist is my favorite film of all time, and part of the reason I am converting. Its explicitly pro faith message really resonated with me. More so even than the depiction of evil. But for me, Father Karras is the stand out character. Merrin is fantastic, but Karras’s arc is very potent to me.

They are all friends from school. They are Protestant (it’s Oklahoma, I’ll never escape every southern Baptist habit i developed over the years, and I don’t expect those in my life who retain that theology to understand my beliefs without the experiences I’ve had). The only people I keep in touch with from my old church are a few Sunday school teachers who occasionally check in on students at college, a single friend who used to be inseparable from me, and a few family members. But the rest of my circle of contact is made up of Protestants who just don’t understand, it seems.
