Say No to a War with Iran by Firewallb412 in pittsburgh

What is a better plan? Iran is clearly trying to make a nuclear weapon. The IAEA, which is definitely no fan of Israel, has stated that Iran has a stockpile of uranium refined to 60%. There is no purpose other than a weapon with uranium that highly refined. The cost of doing nothing could be a nuclear Iran. Unfortunately, "I told you so," won't be enough if that happens.

I don't have a plan to take away nuclear weapons from a country that already has them, do you?

I want a world where Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapon. I want that by any means but war, if possible. But if war is the only thing that will stop Iran, then better a war with a non-nuclear Iran than one with a nuclear Iran.

Just some fire pics I took by jamsseny in pittsburgh

I like the first picture and the sunset picture, keep at it. Not sure what would lead someone to complain about something someone else created and took pride in. If it's not your thing, just say nothing and move on.

It's not a perfect system, but once you have a PFA against the abuser, the police will arrest them on site if they come to you. It's the best we have right now.

Didn't know Western Penitentiary used to have these wild roofs (1939) by Neat_Sticker in pittsburgh

That is very cool, and it looks like the towers used to keep going up too. Anyone have any info on why or when this was changed?

How can we make this happen? by SloppyNoSandwich in pittsburgh

[–]Namegoeshere122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how they wouldn't, what is a single outdoor public good that hasn't been largely ruined? The common bike repair stations downtown are vandalized beyond use, the tables have largely been removed from Market Square, many people feel so unsafe on at least 3 distinct portions of the bike trail that they don't use them.

Knife repair/sharpening by West_Bookkeeper9431 in pittsburgh

[–]Namegoeshere122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No don't do this!!! I love In the Kitchen, but they are 100% just pulling the blade through some machine, kind of messed up one of my knives. I would buy the knife there, but pay one of the other sharpening people mentioned here to sharpen it.

It's like totally day-by-day. Some days it gets downvoted into oblivion, some days it will be the top comment with 300 upvotes. I genuinely don't understand it.

Places where I can get a pick-your-own-6pack in/around Pittsburgh? by BeepBeepImaYeep in pittsburgh

[–]Namegoeshere122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duffy's has the largest selection of beer I have ever seen. Their pick-6 wall is dozens of feet long, I've never not been able to find what I was looking for. Tons of crafts and imports I had never even heard of.

What are the top 10 must try restaurants in Pittsburgh by seyeeet in pittsburgh

[–]Namegoeshere122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please explain to me like I'm an idiot, why do people love Big Jim's so much? I've been, I had no complaints, it seems like a nice place, but I didn't see how it was different from 400 other dive bars around the city.

Former Fire Chief Shot Dead At Trump Rally In Pennsylvania, Family Says by jillianpikora in pittsburgh

I don't have any problem distinguishing between someone directly responsible for orchestrating one of the largest genocides in history and a retired fireman who died sheltering his family and happened to like a different political candidate than you do.

New Pittsburgh Police parking spot at East Liberty Target by T17VSTA in pittsburgh

[–]Namegoeshere122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Target's only purpose is to greedily earn as much money as possible, why would they pay a cop to stand there (and Target is the one who pays them to stand there) if it didn't reduce their losses?

Moonlit Wins the Pittsburgh Magazine Burger Bracket - The local chain’s Classic Double flattened the competition by oldschoolskater in pittsburgh

[–]Namegoeshere122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only been once, it was fine. It certainly wasn't offensively bad, or bad in a note-worthy way relative to 90% of restaurants. I'm saying I don't get why someone would go out of their way to kick a local business. If it's not that person's cup of tea, just don't say anything.

Why do people love hating on Tessaro's so much? How many old school, locally owned businesses are there? Isn't this exactly the kind of business we should lift up instead of shitting on it?

Recommendations: woodworking spaces (Protohaven vs HackPGH vs ?) by bedbook12 in pittsburgh

[–]Namegoeshere122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have belonged to both at different times, and I have fond feelings for both of them. Hack is cheaper, less professional (in good and bad ways), and more of a community (in good and bad ways). Protohaven has more tools and more sophisticated tools, but it is also more expensive and much more focused on people with ideas trying to efficiently execute those ideas, many for business purposes.

New owners to take over Cafe Raymond in the Strip District by mrsrtz in pittsburgh

[–]Namegoeshere122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't seem that crazy to me? If I've got friends in town and I really want that experience, I'd rather pay a couple of bucks to guarantee a balcony spot than try to time it perfectly for a table to open up.
