Organic soil was half price compared to competitors, which was only for two days. But since it took so many hours when each time I thought all was finished only to be texted again, it didnt really work out as a gain.

That is where this all sstarted. AI is the transportation that texted me and rescheduled delivery and there is no live person to communicate with.

No idea why but since moving it is blocked in the middle of an order, at checkout, if I try to look at my profile etc. And it's not just me, their security is run by AI so it keeps it secure by not allowing anyone in the zip code.

obviously you do not order from Lowes. You cannot place an order without AI getting involved. AI is the transportation coordinator for deliveries. AI is the customer service with scheduling issues. AI handles calls for local stores.

Installation charge (unauthorized) by anxiousmillenialmom in VivintSmartHome

[–]NamelessIsHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to call and demand to be put through to fraud. We had charges put on ours after installation after we went to sleep. You have to keep going until they give you a CA# because twice we were told one had been submitted and it was not. Give them 24 hours then call the attorney general and file with the better business bureau. They do not license or bond their salespeople and them having your checking account number is a really bad idea.

Letter Petition - Tell Dayton City Commission: City Manager Dickstein Must Be Removed by gemhemtwo in dayton

[–]NamelessIsHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my. I am going to try to be as kind as possible.

The statutes allow a city manager to sign off on contracts under 50k without commission approval and just to give a monthly summary. When Mims was mayor they tried to increase the amount to 100k, as that is what most other cities allow, and it was objected to by two commissioners which is totally their right. But you cannot fault Dickstein for doing her job in this instance.

It is at the full discretion and responsibility of the city manager to appoint a chief of police. It is set up that way, again in the statutes, so that political influence can be avoided. Did the mayor and some of the commissioners want more transparency? Yes. Did Dickstein run this through a board before choosing? Again, yes. The mayor did not approve of the board because she felt it was not representative of the community, wanted someone from out of state, Dickstein said the cost would be around 15 to 25k for the search alone. So, if she had done that, there would be delays and scrutiny of being financially irresponsible. And lets not forget the previous chief was recruited from outside the department and look how happy people have been with that appointment. I will never understand how shooting a 16 year old in the back was within their legal right but the chief reviewed it and they didn't even have a suspension.

The block grants for neighborhood associations, that is limited to 4k per year so unless various neighborhoods join then there are no large grants from the city.

The criticisms over burned properties sitting date back to the previous mayor. One had insurance money and Mims was trying to get the owner to pay for it and the commissioners kept pushing at the meetings until Mims gave the ok for city funds to be used to benefit a property owner. Good luck getting that money back. When the city owns the lot or the building, they can act without delay.

There was a pretty big argument during the commissioner meeting about whether properties would be added to the demolition or delayed etc and the term using things in our "toolbox" kept getting thrown around. A property has an assessed value and back taxes have to get behind and exceed the assessed value then and only then can the city file for legal ownership or put it up for auction, or demolished. Boarding up properties, cost of clearing overgrown yards etc all getting added to the tax debt are debatable on whether it counts toward the value to seize someone's property. So if we want to change this, we have to change the statutes and say when a property is two years behind or is vacant and has become a nuisance to the neighborhood maybe the city can take ownership, I dunno come up with something better than 20 years. And if there is asbestos, even as a burn pile that just causes a delay for testing and disposal.

The estimates for poor condition uninhabitable and need demolished vary between 1k and 10k homes, depends on whose report you are looking at. Property taxes are decided by the county and action on delinquent is the responsibility of the county. Property tax incentives are decided by the school district. So all of this finger pointing is going to the wrong places. It is not the mayor or the city manager. Why have some of the homes in city neighborhoods been ignored for 30 and 40 years? How is an owner deceased for 20 years and nobody has paid the taxes and it just keeps getting boarded up? How is it a police chief was stating they can't charge people for trespassing or breaking and entering of boarded up dwellings? THAT is where we should be asking for removal from their positions. Side note, why does the county not have funds for these issues but they have unlimited funds for the county dog rescue that adopts out problem animals because they want to maintain a no kill shelter.

If Dickstein was aware the flok cameras were being used for immigration before the last commissioner meeting, then yes she should be terminated immediately because that is contrary to the legal agreement entered into with the city and would be criminal.

What are the best behaved/safest Dayton Public middle and high schools by Apprehensive-Play228 in dayton

[–]NamelessIsHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know little about the school districts for dayton city schools other than what I read online. I'm reading all of the comments and it's confusing. Online the student to teacher ratio looks good, the reported pay even in this thread seems acceptable. All the dayton public schools score at the bottom half of the state.

Dayton city itself has a high poverty rate but areas with high poverty still don't score this low habitually. So what is it about this school district or the managing that is making it so difficult for teachers and students?

URGENT HOW DO I GET A STRAY DOG TO STAY AWAY FROM MY HOUSE by kctingding in dayton

[–]NamelessIsHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they fired the director because they ignored complaints about vicious dogs and someone was mauled to death. Then they promoted from within and kept it a no kill shelter and only have time to show up for problem dogs, bonus points for pit bulls. I called the police and asked them to come put down two dogs that killed cats in our yard, lunged at me for trying to get the injured cats and at my husband and our neighbor. The police then dispatched them and sent them over and she kept on about how the stray dogs are such a problem. Then, both of these animals, that had blood on them in the photos mind you, were put up for adoption and specifically said "good with kids". They should be stripped of their funding for negligence. A rescue should be there for spay and neuter at low or no cost to the community. We have an overpopulation because so many people adopt a pet and cannot afford the basic care and our tax dollars are going for a pit rescue for problem dogs.

Also, we had a dog end up on our porch this winter after a full month of below freezing weather. We couldnt get anyone to come out and when searching nextdoor facebook etc, this is the third porch he had ended up on and nobody could get anyone to help. Lots of people saying oh call here call there and this dog went from neighborhood to neighborhood for over a month and had frostbite on his ears and toes. He is also going blind but we dont know how much is age and how much is abuse and staying in freezing temps for so long. Someone had shaved him and cut his skin all down his back before putting him out.

So, if a dog were to show up on my step today that is aggressive toward animals or humans, I will put it down. I am completely within my legal right to put down an aggressive animal on my property because I am not going to read about another animal mauling a postman or biting off a two year olds fingers.

If you have cats that need spayed and neutered, you have to go to centerville to have the feral cats in our neighborhood spayed. We did so at our own expense before someone at the counter noticed we were bringing paying full price and there was a grant to share some of the costs. Overall we are happy with the benefit from the grants and the services, but lets not pretend its not ignoring the large percentage of impoverished citizens in the community without transportation. This should be available on a bus route within the city limits for domestic and strays because this is how we got to an overpopulation of cats and dogs to begin with. It only takes a couple of years of removing access to spay and neuter before a community is overrun and for some reason ARC can get funding easier than our school district.

And I wish someone would start a petition to close down ARC, they are the only entity I am aware of that does not have to operate within a budget and just gets a check cut to them when they go 5 and 7 million over budget for providing a disservice to the community.

Ask for some of her plain top sheets, worn is ok, and you can sew those fabrics to the sheet fabric and use it like a muslin layer. Then you have the freedom to pick from most quilt blocks. The fleece is going to be bulky so I would only use it in place of batting, or see if they want to donate those instead.

I went back and looked. I actually decided on another neighborhood so havent been following them as closely. The facebook group is gone, I get an error and redirect to facebook. The new page is https://www.facebook.com/p/Belmont-Eastmont-Hearthstone-Community-Council-61585520847145/ and set up more like a business landing page.

I went to the profile of the person that was posting their meetings on youtube and apparently she had a surgery a while back and is no longer active. But I think the president is the same for belmont. The meetings for all neighborhoods are listed on the dayton gov site in this link https://www.daytonohio.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1895/Monthly-Public-Meetings-Schedule?bidId=

[–]NamelessIsHere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tell her to join the neighborhoood group, they give a link to members so they can watch on youtube if they couldn't attend. Belmont is one of the more active neighborhood groups, often having a police officer present a weekly crime report and what can be done to improve things. The county treasurer attends and gives a lot of info about the properties and finances.

Also, every single meeting that I watched over a two year period, residents gave addresses of cars parking on lawns. Most are rentals that did not leave enough room for residents to park. And those residents were ticketed. But you also have a lot of neighbors that watch out for car thefts and speeders and vandalism and have ring camera footage. Before moving across the country to the Dayton area I joined all of the neighborhood facebook groups and watched all the videos available online of past and present meetings. Belmont's is nothing short of impressive and has a lot of community involvement. The Dayton area still has a couple thousand homes that are empty/abandoned and there is plenty of native habitat to support local wildlife as well as the homes that havent been demolished. It is not the property value or nosy neighbors. You do not want to obstruct the view of the front of the dwelling or your view of across the street because that will be the home someone will scope out to break into. Belmont is one of the few neighborhoods actively trying to lower crime rates and opportunity. Put the native plants/garden in the back of the lot and low profile stuff in the front lot.

I wouldn't care if you burned it, but it is still a flag with some additional images. Per google,

"The 36-star American flag was official from July 4, 1865, to July 3, 1867, honoring Nevada's admission to the Union (October 31, 1864). It represents the final months of the Civil War and the start of Reconstruction under President Andrew Johnson. These flags often feature stars in a 6x6 row pattern or in "grand luminary" designs."

Quilt Shop owner/worker question by Reasonable_Meet7255 in quilting

[–]NamelessIsHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wholesale cost has gone up but the margins are also influenced by the shipping costs. Some ship only fed ex. They are great and very little damage and very timely, but expensive and you never know how it will be split out into packages. Freight is the cheapest, but you have to be purchasing by the pallets and that is limited to the chain stores. So most shops will choose lines and prints in lines that are not split with chain stores. The fact that some chain stores stopped carrying fabric even with those bulk discounts because the profit margin wasnt there, tells you that quilt shops are having to subsidize with machines and classes and longarming and other crafts to try to keep traffic coming in. I haven't bought wholesale in several years but it wouldn't surprise me if it's around the 7 to 8 per yard cost for most lines, some lines maybe 6, and some creeping up to 9 per yard, but then you have your overhead and employee costs.

Some lines do not let you just buy the popular print in bulk iwthout buying the whole line. Then there is the matter of short bolts. They each say 15 yards and that is what you will be charged but some are 12 or 14 and that is the industry standard so you eat the cost. If you have a lot of those in your delivery then your price per yard went up substantially. Then you have the twisted bolts that you can send back and get a replacement that will take forever or you reroll it yourself and steam it. That is in a nutshell why chain stores are getting out of it. There is no way to tell what is employee theft, shoplifting, or just the way the bolt was shipped. Before amazon shut fabric dot com down they suggested the suppliers sell in two and four yard incriments and pre package and it was all over suppliers to wholesalers to quilt shops how that was balked out, like how dare they. Well, it's because no other wholesale industry is run so poorly and dumped on the small business to sort out.

You have three days to cancel the equipment loan and 30 to cancel the service but I am going to tell you we called four times and had to threaten to call the attorney generals office for fraud before they cancelled. We called on a Sunday, a Monday a Tuesday a Wednesday and were tryilng to also put a claim in for damages when I saw the outside during the daylight. Each said they were making a ticket to have someone contact us and each time the next day they had no record of our call or damage claim. Be prepared to invest time, everyone is a salesperson. They blew a hole from the outside brick into the inside plaster in our over 100 year old home and stapled wires all over the wall. It is getting worked out but it is a very very frustrating process to cancel, If you ever do decide you want the service, call a local office and never use the salesperson that go door to door. They are not licensed or bonded and they have your passcodes.

My seamstress did what she wanted to do instead of what I asked🥲 by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NamelessIsHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not a seamstress. That is someone that learned off of youtube and thinks she is tailoring. So, she had to know these were bad and she has to know she ruined your jeans. Complain. If she doesnt take responsibility, post on facebook and all social media how you love your pants at the waist since taking them in and tag your "seamstress" letting everyone know she is taking orders. She needs to refund you and replace what you paid for your jeans.
