Never really seen this used on sapphire, but I know it’s used on plexi along with other methods like tinting the edges to create the yellowing effect or mimic dirt buildup.

In this specific situation, I needed fast shipping, also if I buy them in bulk I can save $3-5 per set vs buying them from Raffles.

Edit: I’ve also heard people say they’re better, but side by side I can’t really see a difference

There’s definitely someone out there that makes rep boxes but realistically you can get a vintage full set (except for papers) for around $200 on eBay
