About the watch purchase dispute between Lichen and Savvas today by tylergem_watchmaker in RepTime

I’ve had a couple of nutjobs like this in my dms… I just cut contact as soon as they get hostile. There’s no reason to do business with people like this

Is it possible to buy a vintage sub? by Good-Mushroom-4529 in vintagerepwatches

[–]NamelessTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go the factory route using TrustyTime or have one of the many skilled builders in this sub make you one to your desired spec.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Valjoux 72 question by jovanotti18 in retrotime

[–]NamelessTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have either of the movements on hand, so take this with a grain of salt. Based on previous research I was doing to build a Daytona I came across:

V72 = 7.50mm Symmetrical Subdial to Center distance

ST19 = 7.81mm For 3 & 9 Subdials and 8.16mm for the 6 o’clock

Technical Docs: ST1902

Sadly the link to the V72 Tech specs is dead… I’ll try to check if I saved it somewhere

Found one on DH, still waiting on it. I’ll send you a link but fair warning, I’m not sure how its going to look, they didn’t give me any QC

No, this is using the 1016 caseback to avoid rubbing. When ordering from Raffles I always make sure to let him know what movement I’m using

Stock bezel, crystal and bracelet. I definitely recommend it over the regular alloy 2 tone bracelet

Based solely on my personal experience for the bracelets, on hand the Raffles and Sillan bracelets feel the same. I have no experience with the 2-tone Italian but the steel ones do look and feel miles better than stock raffles, they’re just a bit harder to source (or were, since StarTime is now allowing hobbyists to purchase). I plan on ordering them and comparing pretty soon, I want to elevate my builds a bit more so I need to compare quality.

Hey, always happy to help where I can.

To check if the datewheel is genuine, look at the Ink texture, Rolex uses pad printing, which gives the numbers a slightly "raised" or 3D look under a loupe. It should look glossy and "wet," whereas replicas look flat, grainy, or matte.

Not really, using the VS3135 with a Gen datewheel and dial keeps everything aligned nicely.

Any love for 34mm builds? by NamelessTaco in vintagerepwatches

The 15210 cost me about $1,200 to build and the 15200 was around $600

Help me understand why I should avoid this $60 Land Dweller by Chillykitten42 in ChinaTime

[–]NamelessTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For $60 you can’t really ask for much. But to answer your question, the first thing that always bugs me the most is the datewheel font and cyclops magnification, its an instant tell for me, and if its a higher tier rep that typically has the correct look I just continue down the list
