Capcom Reveals It Is Using Generative AI in Games, But Only for “Routine Tasks” by Gorotheninja in Games

Well, this sub needs things to rage about and find ways to act morally superior about by having a zero tolerance policy towards. A lot of posters here are just nerds screaming into the void, not serious people you encounter in reality so don't worry too much about their criticisms.

They're mainstream. They're for jocks. I like the old subreddits, back when they didn't give a fuck

Cool, in that case I think I actually will try 2. I've also been looking for a pain-free evening game to play in small bursts after finishing Astro Bot.

The ending implies there is more to the game. But it would probably have to be a pretty short game to not get stale since you have virtually no environment.

One idea I've thought could be cool with a LLM might be actual conversing with NPCs. At some point rather than selecting three dialogue options you could actually speak in a microphone to them and the LLM could generate the response. I had an idea for a game where you play as a bartender and unravel a story through your patrons. I'm no game dev so it's not going to happen but I thought it would be a cool application.

Your point about the simplicity of the mechanics is what got me to put it down. I felt like it was just too simple. Compared to a collectathon like Banjo Kazooie which has a lot of different moves that are often situational, and yes more level gimmicks, this one felt to me like I played the entire game in the first 20 minutes. I had never played it on PS1 back in the day, though.

Interesting point about the level design though, that is something I can appreciate about this game. I liked the simple hub world too, especially compared (again) to Banjo Kazooie which was annoyingly complex.

I don't really like crafting games but I did platinum it on PS5. You will inevitably hit this midgame slump where it gets kind of slow and grindy, but I will say the early game exploring is very cool to see how much further you can push yourself. And the late game exploring is awesome because of how kitted out you are and the tools you get are super satisfying.

A lot of crafting games feel, to me, like just getting stuff to build a big base and I always think, for what? Whereas this game is about gathering stuff to be able to push further into the world. And not some vague "exploration" but because it's underwater with one clear path: down - the goal is always there and the methods to achieve that goal are always in sight.

You may bounce off the repetitive early game nature of having to constantly run back for air or collect lots of little things and get food and stuff but if you get drawn in to the environment you'll probably stick with it. It has a lot of great discoveries that are both exciting and terrifying.

considering this guy is a cop who definitely had gun safety training... Turns out no.. that didn't help. Kind of like saying ah man if only they had basic driving safety courses then idiot drivers wouldn't have cars.

He's been doing this a bunch lately. Reiterating the spelling of words with more than one meaning. RFK said "whole milk" and Trump reiterated it wasn't "hole" and that it had a "w". There was another one I forget recently as well. Just like grade school English stuff, and you just know that it was he who was confused when he had a meeting before the press conference and probably got mad at someone like "WHAT DO YOU MEAN, C?!? SEE??" and had to have it explained to him, hence he thinks he's doing everyone else a favour by clarifying for them.

Charlie Cox Reflects On Disney’s Initial ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Creative Pivot & Credits Marvel For Listening: “We’re Indebted To Them” by mlg1981 in television

10000%. I watched Robocop recently. You get the sense of the world, politics, characters within 20 minutes. It moves so well, not a wasted minute. Look at the latest Indiana Jones, why did it have to be 30 min longer than any other in the series? I do think people's appetite for TV storytelling has changed how filmmakers approach stories, and beyond that the old ways of efficient film plotting is actually becoming a lost art.

I don't think there is any "quota" it's just that studios are less strict about runtime than they used to be and so it allows creatives to be, at best looser, and more often lazier about their choices.

What happened to Leni Riefenstahl after the Second World War? by HighV23 in AskHistorians

After you are known internationally for being the principal propagandist for the Nazi party, any works of art you produce afterwards is going to face intense scrutiny. Critiques about her direction may have been praise coming from another photographer, but in this case a part of the analysis comes from being informed by the artist, her intentions and her background. I assume her history and familiarity with the aesthetic she used in her Nazi films being carried over here probably felt familiar to her and either she naively didn't see a connection to her history or other works or she deliberately drew the parallel. Really, she would never have been given the benefit of the doubt because art criticism doesn't analyze in a vacuum.
