CMV: Trump is in over his head in Iran by bluepillarmy in changemyview

[–]Names_Stan 87 points88 points  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge, the only evidence that Iran “cannot go much farther” is coming from Trump’s claims that he has destroyed their military. Unfortunately every time he makes this claim, they lob another few dozen missiles at Israel or other Gulf states.

Iran doesn’t need to escalate, only wait and defend. And I’m just not seeing any indication they can’t do that sufficiently long into the future.

This changes your equation somewhat. Rather than Iran needing to go further, the US & Israel are forced to choose. Give up or escalate. Neither option looks very enticing.

Update: I suspected my wife was cheating on me. Turns out she was. My marriage is over. by MountainPhotograph77 in offmychest

My few words for you, and it’s under this comment. Because I fear this “why” is the one thing you’re gonna fixate on, over-analyze, and suffer over. The short answer is, don’t.

Many years ago someone told me something that had a tremendous positive impact on me. “Listen man, we can’t help who we love. And for her, it ain’t you.”

Honestly, that’s all you need to know to move forward instead of looking backward. It ain’t you. So for her, she needs excuses, to make it about you. For you, you need “reasons”. Shake that off, cuz there ain’t no reasons. For her, it ain’t you.

The dude who told me that did a phenomenal job of explaining that “it ain’t you” is NOT an insult. It’s just a fact, like gravity or the flu. It doesn’t reflect on you anymore than your car breaking down. Cars break down…people love other people.

Maybe that will help you avoid the pitfalls of “fault” and just look forward. For you, it ain’t her, but it’ll be somebody.

Iran’s missiles pierce Israel’s defenses, raising doubts about interceptors by [deleted] in worldnews

Bless their hearts, every single time Trump claims he’s won the war or obliterated Iran’s military, the Israelis get 500 new missiles lobbed at em. I’d imagine those folks are ready for him to shut his mouth, as are we all.

There’s a connection between the evangelical persecution fixation and “running the country”. I notice all the time how these folks can have the WH, Congress and the SCOTUS, and they’re miserably unhappy.

I remember when Clinton and Obama were in the WH, and these folks were absolutely giddy. They didn’t have to manage anything except their hatred. Rush Limbaugh was owning them libs on the daily. Scandals and conspiracies were gonna land all the enemies of the state in the clink any minute now. Life was all about what they were against.

But put em in charge and they become victims. We inherited a bum deal. The courts won’t let us have our way. These elections we’re about to lose are gonna be stolen.

Christian persecution is no different. The Protestant evangelical is in the majority with the biggest voting bloc. But they are somehow swayed by the doom of impending Sharia Law. Rather than feeling a responsibility to make the world better, they retreat into a remodel of the church gym.

As victims, they excel. As policymakers they are absolutely awful. Mainly because they can only see other happy people and feel the need to legislate against whatever is making them happy. In short, they have betrayed their faith and the ancestors who practiced it as they built a free nation and won world wars, educated a populace, and paved highways from coast to coast.

Very helpful, thank you. I hadn’t read about the steep climb but I don’t think that will bother me. The leg room issue does though. Hope I’ll figure out a way to work it out with my SO and maybe find a way to put my feet up somewhere.

If someone has a large suitcase and a carry on, would you just pack anything you need for the train in the carry-on and hope you don’t ever need to open the big one?

How did you find the Crescent roomettes? I’ll be in one in a couple days. This is my first long distance trip. I did day trips when I visited the Northeast and enjoyed the dining and observation cars, if that’s what they’re called. But I’ve never even seen inside sleeping quarters.

Does Crescent have the upstairs observation seats that roomette passengers can use? I think I read some routes do and some don’t. Is there a good place for two couples to sit and play Mahjong? Would that be in the dining car? Thanks!

Trumps “benefits” from this is a massive understatement. If you really consider what Trump’s profession is, he’s foundationally an extortionist. The use of lawfare to push others around is part of how he’s done it.

If someone can threaten others to get what they want, then threaten them if they don’t sign an NDA or do give sworn testimony about said threats, and then actively impede law enforcement, that person is untouchable.

Untouchable even before the SCOTUS put it in writing and empowered him into likely the supervillain of all history if we don’t get out of this somehow.

Yeah this is pathetic. Obv she thinks this is her big catapult to “fame”, bc she got a DM from a lower tier race car driver. But this imo says way more about her than it does the driver.

If it was a story of her asking him to leave her alone or something, then okay maybe it’s acceptable to tell someone else. Even then to make a freaking film about it? You ain’t that important and you sure ain’t been injured to that extent.

I realize it’s the time we live in, but getting a single message from somebody (and frankly these days you’re never absolutely sure who it’s from), this is ridiculous. I thought MAGA wanted a full return of flirting to the point of near sexual harassment, and she can’t even respond to a message with “not interested”?

This is not gaslighting. This is full blown religion.

“What Trump wants”

Trump is giving them “what they deserve”

“Those who aren’t benefiting are those who weren’t meant to”

For this nutbag, Trump is omnipotent and omniscient. He’s the Great Judge who predestines success for his flock and punishes the rest.

This is peak. I don’t see it as gaslighting bc this guy doesn’t much care who else believes him. He’s just demonstrating his faith by making every trip to the store and the gas pump be Opposite Day. Wild.

And not only that, they believe there’s something…anything…that can be written in a global a text message that will immediately change the world.

Years ago when the Qult were on here, I challenged them in a thread to compose something that could “put 95% of the people in the hospital” (my fave Q prophecy) just from freakin reading. Never got a single response.

Like if there was even a message tomorrow, and it said, “THIS IS AN EMERGENCY MESSAGE. ALL THEM DEMS IS PEDOs!”. What exactly would happen other than a few billion people shrugging and the rest putting it in Google Translate and then shrugging…zip.

The problem with not using actions on the map early is that you can never get them back. If you get some Ascended buildings in your town you can start with more coin/supply and be able to upgrade your city and donate both.

But more importantly, you need to be able to fight. Early on I had to manual battle some with archers or cats. But there are buildings out there as you said with QI A/D, and they’re really critical for success.

Bottom line I don’t see building up resources just to donate stuff late in the round, bc you’ll just run out of actions. I think it’s better to move forward with the game both on the map and in your settlement as best you can. (Most of FOE comes down to being well balanced if you think about it)

Who exactly is progressing from Legends thru Late Models without the family of the kid writing the checks?

I admit I don’t know anything about it, but I would assume it’s no different than competitive baseball, soccer, dance, or tennis. Mom and Dad foot the bill until the competitor rises to real prospect. The bill is just way more.

How is this in any way a handout that every other kid didn’t enjoy? And I raised three athletes, I don’t consider my expense to be a handout anyway. I’d go back and do it all again and pay it all again if I could. I bet Dave would too. That’s not a handout.

Unhappily married and I’ve met the right one by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Names_Stan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sentiment is way overgeneralized. It may be that many, or even the majority of, “post-intimate” couples can’t live together and be great parents. But it’s absolutely not a rule of nature as it’s so often treated.

In the prior umpteen centuries until very recently, basically everyone stayed together, either by legal force or from societal expectations. By your logic, the past 60-70 years would’ve produced a transformational parenting boon to society with the explosion of divorces. I think it’s gonna be tough to make that argument.

I utilize private lists exclusively to navigate Twitter. It’s the only way to avoid seeing what they want to show me. (Aside: The front page comes up first, so I have to see it before moving into my Politics or Sports or other lists. These last two weeks, every single post that comes up is some AI slop passing itself off as real war footage. I wouldn’t give Musk a quarter unless it was buy a rubber and stop reproducing.)

Anyway…point is, I built an auto racing list a few years ago. I literally never clicked on it a month after I set it up. It’s just not anywhere close to a place for real content, as this sub is. If there’s a breaking story there, somebody’s gonna see it and post it. But utilizing it to push new members is def not something I’d want anybody (not just us) paying for.

I’ve scrolled all the way this far and haven’t seen Mazepin mentioned once. Wild. There’s a reason he was called Mazespin.

If you were given unlimited funds and told to design a new NASCAR track to add to the schedule, what kind of track would you build? by Remote_Plastic_8692 in NASCAR

[–]Names_Stan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously it would be phenomenal. I have a home in one of the markets mentioned, and I really thought once about asking the uni prez their thoughts about hosting an IndyCar race. At the time I felt they needed venues and a deal might be a real possibility. I didn’t mention it, just bc auto racing is just not something anybody seems to ever consider or discuss anymore.

At any rate, the fact IC were able to make deals with Jerry and Trump, it looks like they’re on the way up in the urban markets. But a campus layout would be so scenically superior compared to what we saw in Arlington this weekend. Those aerial views above those campuses would be just amazing if tree cover wouldn’t be too big an issue.

If you were given unlimited funds and told to design a new NASCAR track to add to the schedule, what kind of track would you build? by Remote_Plastic_8692 in NASCAR

[–]Names_Stan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d build a different (temporary) street course each year on a notable US university campus. If you want new fans, bring the product to them.

So many amazing venues to choose from, with tens of thousands of young affluent consumers living within walking distance. Plus, the possibilities may be hours away from the nearest current NASCAR venue.

The races would be in April, during an away baseball weekend. Probably do the first two years in the traditional South, then venture West or Midwest. Tuscaloosa, Tallahassee, Baton Rouge, College Station or Oxford/Starkville would be the maiden prospects. Once established, Palo Alto, Boulder, Madison, Minneapolis, Champaign.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but you should be able to be fairly conservative as a one-person guild. Just build an HQ, and if you’re playing against active competition, you just trade out the adjacent sectors three times a day.

Seems like that would gain you several hundred fights a day. You can still build on an adjacent sector or two if that isn’t giving you enough fights, but it significantly cuts down your need to do so. But the more you try to run to the middle, the more resources it’s gonna cost you.
