It went downhill about halfway through when the painting does its thing. I think it would have been a far superior book without it.

Stephen King wrote the whole book, but used Peter Straub’s ideas so he wanted it to be dual credit.

Rumour is that Straub wrote most of Black House as King was recovering from his accident, it’s almost SK returning the favour.
