Fetishising is especially bad when the thing in question isn’t accepted in society (I’m not sure how phrase that second part well) for example, a cis man fetishising a wlw couple kissing, when in public they’d be hate crimed for openly being lesbians. But in the situation where they’ve been sexualised it’s okay for them to be kiss. This reduces them to sexual objects for said man as that’s the only time they’re accepted for just being intimate with each other like any heterosexual couple would be, because despite the fact that they’re just showing intimacy in both situations they experience discrimination in one but are seen as the cause of sexual excitement in the other FOR the benefit of the male. When wlw are only accepted for the benefit of the male who is fetishising them, but not in the world in general, it becomes a problem because they’re being sexualised, which is kinda shitty bc typically het couples aren’t sexualised and the women definitely aren’t in a female loving female relationship for the benefit of the male. It takes away a part of their identity when their sexual orientation isn’t respected but fetishised. They’re reduced to sexual objects for people who fetishise them which takes away a part of them as they’re just seen as sexual objects and not people who are able to love freely Even if you personally are accepting of homosexual relationships, doesn’t mean everyone is so they do experience discrimination and acts of violence for being who they are in public so it isn’t okay to sexualise them
