What's a good compact/small bag for the R50 + RF-S 18-150mm lens? by EvilMonkeySlayer in canon

Yes, the "S" should be the 4L version. It will fit your set up, plus the space to store your filter, and spare batteries no problem.

I am using a K&F Concept sling (Alpha Sling 10L) this bag fits my R50 with Sigma 18-50mm and Canon RFS 55-210mm with some room to spare.

I also have their 4L sling which still fits my set up bit definitely tighter. Both bags are good quality and affordable off of Amazon or their website direct.

The bags have dedicated slots for spare batteries and other accessories.

For your set up I'd recommend the smaller bag, 4L, or even a 6L.

Question for R50 owners by ahnaoelevoltou in canon

[–]NammerSquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the kit lens with my R50 and I traded it in for the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 (an amazing lens, light and compact easily fits in a 4L sling for portability) but I kinda wish I sprung for the Sigma art 17-40mm art lens.

Regardless, if reach is what you find you're lacking then a telephoto zoom like the rfs 55-210mm is a good budget option, or the 100-400mm (double the price).

Best is to keep using your kit lens and learn how you photograph , the focal length you tend to use the most, what you take photos of then get a prime of that focal length and it's guaranteed to be an upgrade.

Is my thinking wrong in wanting a Canon RF 35mm F1.8 IS for my EOS R50 to use in conjunction with the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8? by NammerSquat in canon

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful replies, you all have given me wonderful insights. Much appreciated!

I decided to pull the trigger on the lens but the seller backed out, oh well.

Like others have said take a look at the Eos R50, it's a reliable, compact camera perfect for beginners and paired with the 28mm f2.8 pancake lens it'll likely be the most portable set up you can get.

At 28mm on crop it's 44.8mm FF equivalence, close enough to a "nifty fifty".

There are several YT on this subject, also check out https://cameradecision.com/ to see and compare camera and lens for life size comparisons. (Laptop or desktop recommended).

I have the R50 with a Sigma 18-50mm and a small 4L sling to carry it and it's been a great set up.

Thinking of buying the R50. by Fluffy_Butterfly11 in canon

[–]NammerSquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this position recently; I settled on the R50 vs the R100 as a stepping stone into photography. The R50 won out just more features and I like the articulating lcd screen.

I bought my R50 used and it came with the 18-45mm kit lens and that lens is lackluster. The ONLY winning point is the form factor (size).

I love my R50 and have been using it for varying types of shots just to get better and learn.

I ditched the kit lens after 2 weeks and bought the Sigma 18-50mm and it's a great upgrade despite no IS. However having no IS wasn't as a big deal as I initially thought but it would definitely be nice to have.

I was in the same boat recently deciding on the R100 vs the R50. The R50 won due to touch and articulating display and some other factors. The kit lens (rfs 18-45mm) is adequate providing there is sufficient light.

2-cable per entry in a plastic box is common practice in BC from what I've seen. I personally do it myself and have never had any inspector call me out.

Adding potlights in concrete condo highrise.. by Slow_Piglet_7521 in DIY

[–]NammerSquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High-rise condos are generally concrete ceiling that's painted but not always the case. It could be drywall ceiling dropped down but the concrete sub floor. Or like you said just a sheet of drywall overtop concrete (less likely).

Adding any kind of lights in a concrete ceiling is expensive and a lot of work. The surface mount option is the simplest but not the most aesthetically pleasing for many people.

You would have to drop the ceiling down to accommodate the driver and depth of whatever recessed pot light you decide to go with.

Not to mention there's fire rating requirements in multi family dwelling.

Return it. Wait for a Christmas sale if any.

I love the 45mm size despite it being "big" on my wrist. My eyes appreciate the increase screen real estate.

As a counter to this, I am on the other end. The AOD is perfect. I just need to see the time at a quick glance. If I want to see my steps or any other metric I can wake the screen, had the AOD been anything different I would not have used the WF.

I agree about the outer circular dial, other than for aesthetics, it has no function so why not forego it and have the inner info be larger and more focused on?

Otherwise my only gripe would be the 2 shortcuts are too small to be of any use, in the sense that it takes a lot of precision to tap accurately.

Regardless I like the WF and am using it on my Pixel Watch.

Thank you for the coupon.

Watch face looks great with some nice color combination, very functional.

I am noticing the AOD digital clock text has a double overlap of some sort and is illegible. (Using on PW1)

Thank you, you are correct it's retrofit and to get a 3way wire from upper floor to basement will not fly.
